Arguably the biggest prize in free agency is off the market.

Brad Richards has chosen to play with the New York Rangers and will agree to a nine-year deal for $58.5 million.

Richards had 28 goals and 77 points in 72 games with the Stars last season.

He spent his first seven years in the NHL with the Lightning, where he led Tampa to a Stanley Cup in 2004, while collecting the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.

Richards has 220 goals and 496 assists in 772 career NHL games.

It's shit like this though that pisses me off about some playes. He knew he was going to New York, it wasn't even a question. Stars could have traded his rights to New York and got something, but the guy says no and declines, only to go and sign with them. I understand he has the right to do so, but that to me is just classless. Like the Sundin thing.

I always do this. I used to get paid by a defunct site to provide news and analysis during the NHL free agent frenzy.....now its just something I do for fun.

Yeah, I might have gone overboard with some threads, but honestly, far too much goes into the general discussion thread here. It makes it look like the forum is dead to visitors, which isn't the case at all. Just that everything goes into one place and sometimes news/discussion gets lost in other stuff.
