While yes, Sanders and Thomas were a better backfield, my point was that even Texas fans didn't realize what they had in Priest Holmes at the time. His career was marred by injuries at Texas.

He was a good player in college that turned into (possibly) the best all-purpose back of our generation in the NFL.

He still has one of my favorite sports photos, though...

I understand what you are saying. And yes he was great in KC. Larry Johnson was the same kind of guy though. He was marginal at Penn State and replaced Priest. They hardly skipped a beat from Holmes to Johnson.

Holmes and Johnson weren't the "same kind of guy" in any way, shape, or form.

Agree to disagree. I agree that Faulk is the best, but Holmes is easily in that conversation. Tomlinson in his prime, too.

Faulk did it for longer, but Faulk was also a first-round pick. In their prime, their value was approximately the same. Faulk was great from '98-'01. Holmes was great from '01-'03.

You're also talking about a guy who entered the league three years later than Faulk, didn't play his rookie season, and still produced the same numbers in his prime.

Again, I don't disagree that Faulk is the best APB, but Holmes isn't far off. Especially considering what he missed out on by spending 90 years in college.

It really is a shame Holmes suffered so many disastrous injuries. He would easily be a HOFer otherwise.

No. Faulk was the better, more utilized receiver. Priest only had 2 years where he caught 70 passes and never saw 80 grabs. Faulk had 5 years where he caught at least 80 balls.

Faulk was also more of a big play threat. Priest was honestly in the Curtis Martin, not really that impressive mold. His best attributes were patience and vision, and he played with an outstanding offensive line, which allowed him to run for a lot of TD's, but most of them were around the goal-line.

No. Faulk was the better, more utilized receiver. Priest only had 2 years where he caught 70 passes and never saw 80 grabs. Faulk had 5 years where he caught at least 80 balls.
