FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners have made an offer to Robinson Cano, but it did not exceed $200 million.
Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reported earlier Thursday that the Mariners were willing to offer Cano $230-240 million, but Rosenthal says that's not the case, at least not at this point. Cano asked Seattle for a 10-year, $240 million deal, but the M's apparently came back well below that number. The second baseman is currently on a plane to Seattle to meet with club officials. While it does certainly appear the Mariners are serious about their pursuit of Cano, it remains to be seen if they'll be able to outbid the Yankees.
