Smart move for both Rubio and the TWolves. Minny knows they suck and understand it. Rebuilding is their game now. So they choose two of the top PGs, guaranteeing they have at least one. If they cannot get Rubio for two more years, he can learn more and build up trade value at the same time. He's only 20-years old so he has tons more room to grow as a player.

From Rubio's side, you hoped the NBA team could reach a deal with the Spanish team, but it didn't happen. So you're not wasting $6 million of your own dime to go play in the NBA...smart move. Now you're only 20-years old and have an NBA career waiting for you.

It seems to me the Wolves took the best available players with thinking that they would be able to trade one of the PGs, because why would they draft 2 PGs? There is no way both Flynn and Rubio could have played in the backcourt together and the team be successful. Either the Wolves were hoping a team was going to throw some nice pieces for Rubio or Flynn; or they knew Rubio was going to stay in Spain.

Minnesota knew he didnt want to play for them but they picked him anyways. They should be happy with the trade value he will have in 2 years and I'm pretty sure they are.
