Rumor: Eagles Will Look to Trade McNabb

Andy Reid has had a lot of regular season success, but I’ve always wondered why he doesn’t take more heat for the Eagles not getting over the hump. Instead McNabb has always taken the blame and for that I wouldn’t be surprised if he was ready to go. I also don't agree that Vick was a distraction, because in reality he was hardly used. He'd get maybe a play or two a game, but that was it. The problem with the Eagles is that they always seem to run into better teams.

28 other teams would also kill to have the Talent on his team, The successful and profitable franchise, great management, Jim Johnson for 9 of those 10 years, and McNabb at the helm. Andy Reid has failed. Championships mean everything.

It takes more than talent to win a championship.

It certainly helps, but the Eagles had winning records with guys like Todd Pinkston as their #1 WR. That's simply good coaching.

Your dismissal of Andy Reid is ridiculous.

Sure he hasn't won the Super Bowl yet, but the Eagles have nothing to be ashamed of. And if anyone's to blame for the 2004 Super Bowl loss, it's McNabb, not Reid.

I agree with that, MCnabb ran the poorest excuse for the two minute drill in the history of football. I still think had he been quicker, and crisper they would've walked out Super Bowl champs.

Reid has to share some blame in that. His clock management skills were terrible that day.

I agree with you. As long as Reid is there, McNabb will be there too. And I like it that way. I'm not buying this rumor either.

I think getting rid of McNabb would be a terrible decision and would only set our franchise back.

Kolb may have looked good in his 2 games, but he played NO and KC. NO ranked 25th in total defense, KC ranked 30th. NO 26th in passing defense, KC 22nd in passing defense. Not really excellent defenses, and not something to bank Kolb's success on.

Ask 32 head coaches if they wouldn't love a shot to manage the Eagles. This team should be a dynasty and they should've been competing with the Pats and Steelers for most superbowl victories this decade. You can't justify the shortcomings this team has created countless times. I am not spoiled, I simply have very high expectations just like every Eagles fan in America. It's superbowl or bust with us every single year. So Chalk it up. 2009-10 = BUST

As an Eagles' fan, it pains me greatly to write this, but even coached up - they weren't beating Dallas this year.
Dallas was simply the superior team.
I can't think of one area where the Eagles had a clear advantage over the Cowboys.

Even if McNabb led that late scoring drive with a little more sense of urgency, there's what.. another minute, 1:30 on the clock.. tops? The Eagles were down 10 late in the 4th. They'd have needed a 3 and out, because they were out of timeouts.. and then another drive to put them in FG range.

I'm sorry.. I don't see how DMc choked the Super Bowl away, IMO.. the Patriots were the best team that night and they proved it... a botched 4th quarter drive in terms of the clock didn't make nearly the amount of difference as people say it did.

The simple fact that Reid kept dicking around trying to find ways to plug Vick in, was a distraction to the offense....it also was a distraction to McNabb.......you even agreed that he couldn't find a good way to utlilize Vick......

Nabb's a good guy and he would never speak ill of Reid or Vick in public though

And how did the Eagles benefit from just having Vick around? They're the ones who threw Vick a life line, other than that, the Eagles didn't need Vick......they already had a guy in McNabb who was good for the locker room and on the field

sorry down 10 with plenty of time for a score and a onside kick...I don't care, but if my QB doesn't see the importance of the game that he is just strolling like he's taking a sunday walk there is something wrong. That's where superstar QB's are made for isn't it? Did montana and Elway say you know i'm at the 98 yrd line with a minute+ left and just say this is going to be to hard why even try? they got the ball with nearly 6 minutes left down by 10 how is that not enough time for 2 scores. IF you actually act like this is the biggest game of your career and not week 7 maybe just maybe you get the ball back with more time for the 2nd score..

I think that the Eagles are in the same situation than the Packers quite a few years ago IIRC.

They had Favre who could still give a few years and Hasselbeck was rotting on the bench. He was a back-up that had learned it all behind a good QB and could be a starter for some teams, so they traded him and went for another rookie to develop for the day that Favre would quit. Am I right?

Now Kolb has shown that he has developped in a decent QB, he learned the position behind McNabb for a few years and he could be a starter at some places (SF, STL, CLE, OAK, JAX, BUF...). They could get good stuff if they ship him away.

McNabb can still give a few years if he gets his extension and they could draft another rookie QB later on and still have 2 years to develop him.

He needs to get out of Philly, the fanbase has been driving me away from routing for the team too long, I can't imagine how McNabb feels with the undeserved criticism he's been taking for years.

Kolb, while mediocre at best, is not capable of even playing on the same field as McNabb any given Sunday.

I doubt it happens, and as jaggy said, this shit comes up every year, and it never happens.
