The largest spread in college football history before this week came in 2007 when Hawaii was a 60-point favorite over Northern Colorado . Hawaii would win that game 63-6, and Northern Colorado would cover.

Anyway, I wouldn't be proud of this Knight. It just means FSU scheduled a DII program (a really bad one at that) it has no business playing.

Both them and Oklahoma State should be ashamed for even taking the game.

Florida State has now crested the 70-point mark at the few offshore books offering a line on the game against Savannah State. That's the largest spread in college football history. Yes, the same Savannah State Tigers who lost 84-0 to Oklahoma State after the Cowboys pulled their starters in the first quarter (quarter, not half).

Granted, lines for FBS-FCS contests have not been around for that long (they are offered only at off-shore establishments). Still, this one is ridiculous.Will Florida State cover line? I'm not so sure.

First, FSU is probably a bit embarrassed to be playing the Tigers in the first place. It's an ultra-cheap opponent (under a half million). Blowing the doors off them only draws more attention to the game. Teams scoring 60 don't draw attention. But get up in the 80s? That makes Sportscenter. I think the coaching staff is very conscious of not doing that.

Second, FSU does not play at the same pace of Oklahoma State (no huddle spread attack). A team can still score only 7 points per possession, and if FSU runs the ball a lot, milks clock, it might get only 9 possessions (unlikely, but still). Nine possessions and seven toughdowns is 63 points. That would be juuuuust fine with FSU.

Do you not realize how bad Savannah State is? We aren't talking about FCS here, we are talking about a bad DII program that just moved up to FCS last season, a team that went 1-11 last season and lost to FAMU (the kind of school that usually loses by 40-50 to D1 programs) by 40. They lost to Southeastern Louisiana (the kind of school that usually loses by 50-60 vs D1 programs) by a score of 63-6. They have four wins total since 2009.

This is far, far, far below the standards of most "cupcake" opponents.

i think its an absolute joke that college teams are able to schedule games against teams like Savannah St. Paying them a million bucks to take a beating is like paying them a million bucks for a win.
But hey, this is college football....the integrity of college sports is about as high as the mob

The Cowboys won the game 84-0, which included a 35-0 lead after the first quarter.
There was a serious question as to whether or not Oklahoma State could hit 100 points.

This week life doesn't get much easier for Savannah State, as it picks itself up off the turf and heads to Tallahassee where another severe beating awaits at the hands of Florida State.There is good news for Savannah State, however, as the Tigers make the trip knowing that they have made college football history.The Tigers are the biggest underdog in college football history.

According to R.J. Bell of Pregame.com, Florida State is favored by 70 ½ points this weekend. Which means that if, for some reason, you decide you want to bet on a team that lost by 84 points last week, Vegas is willing to spot you 70 ½ points first. The 70 isn't much, but that hook? That hook is going to destroy somebody's bank roll.

Now, before you go taking shots at Florida State for scheduling this game a week after playing Murray State, you should know the Seminoles only scheduled it because they had to. Florida State was originally scheduled to playWest Virginia, but after the Mountaineers moved to the Big 12 they had to drop a non-conference game. That game was the Florida State game, which left the Seminoles scrambling for an opponent. And thus this Savannah State game was born.

Okie State was only 68pt faves on a few books...on my books, it ended up being 58.5. I took the 58.5 for a unit...was easy money...

I would guess the line on MOST books would around the same 58. FSU doesn't have as explosive an offense as Okie State.
