Current enrolled freshman, RS freshmen, sophomores, and RS sophomores would take the penalty to transfer of having to sit out a year. Only Juniors and Seniors (RS or not) are allowed to transfer with no strings attached because they are the only ones who would not be able to see a bowl game if they stayed at USC.

rs-fr/true sophomores got to play in a bowl this year and will have a shot at one when they are seniors... if they want to transfer, they will have to sit out a year... more than fair...
 
That's what I'm trying to say - I don't think any current USC player should be penalized.
They weren't at the school when all that Reggie Bush crap was going on.
They should be free to transfer without penalty.
 
Would not touch this kid with a 10-foot pole if I were a college coach. Since I'm not, my opinion matters little, but I'm turned off by the look-at-me way he handled his recruitment and his wannabe rap mogul of a dad.

As for grey-shirting, every school does that in this day and age in order to get under the 85 scholly limit. How do you think these signing classes have like 28-30 signees?

As for giving a kid a scholarship for another sport, pretty sure there are strict guidelines preventing that.

Grey-shirting and over-signing isn't ethical, but it's legal and a common practice among successful programs.

Our football program didn't even recruit Latwan after January. He wanted to come to the U, he was told the only spot for him was on the track team as a freshman...he, being a track guy in HS, too, said sure...

We did the same thing for Santana Moss.

while i dislike grey-shirting, that is not what i was talking about... besides, some conferences do not allow you to sign more than 25 kids in a class (the SEC seems to be abuse this the most, as Auburn signed something like 35 kids in the spring)... but, offering track scholarships to football players is what im mad about... not everyone does it, some schools/programs will not allow it, and rightfully so, its a shady ass procedure

read the NCAA handbook if it doesnt make sense...

a football team is allowed 85 scholarship players at one given time... they are abusing a loophole to garner an 86th scholarship player, in essence... hell WVU did it when I was there, but Pastilong outlawed it in 2004 b/c he found it to be morally wrong... LA is going down to Coral Gables as a football player first, and they were lucky to have this loophole available to them to be able to offer him a spot... the NCAA can outlaw it if some teams keep abusing it and they deem it to be unfair... i know for a fact they have been close to stopping teams from doing this, but for some reason, havent gone through with it yet...
 
LSU has kept kids on a baseball scholarship before while they wait for a football scholly...I don't see the issue with it, if a kid is willing to wait for a full scholarship while paying out of pocket (track, baseball, etc. give partial 'ships) then that is his choice. What is the NCAA going to do? If a kid is a legit member of the track or baseball team, he should be entitled to a scholly in that sport if none are available in football.

And sportsbuck, not every kid who is oversigned is a non-qualifier. Schools like Bama, Florida, Auburn, LSU, etc. force kids to grey-shirt all the time for non-academic reasons.

im fine with them getting partials and playing football, but giving this kid a full ride for football via a track scholly hurts the other kids on the track team and is also shady... :lesmug:
