Shogun is the LHW division's only hope

I dont think I am (taking away), just a thought I had, LHW was always considered a 'stacked' division which it still my be, even in my p4p list I have 3 LHWs I think, now that I look back at the fights, the comp, Machida and Silva whooping ass, I think we need to take a 2nd look at this division and even where people have some of these guys ranked

The Machida/Shogun fight is a big one, I am probably looking forward to this fight more than most any other fight, its a great fight and will give us some more answers if Shogun tries to show a complete game and has his cardio back to normal

Machida and And1 are still beasts, I always have been a Rampage fan, but his recent outings are nothing to brag about, maybe all these guys Rampage, Forrest, Rashad, Jardine, etc...are really good, or just good to pretty good, I am leaning towards good to pretty good now

I will be rooting Shogun on for sure. IMO, I believe Machida & And1 as you call him are just in a league of their own - they're making their competition seem inferior. I mean in some fans eyes Forrest has to damn near murder his next opponent to get some "cred" back. He was supposed to be the relentless brawler & Silva just ate his breakfast, lunch, dinner & his in between snacks.

I think the LHW division may develop the same problem as the LW division if Machida beats Shogun and Rashad/Rampage. The division actually has quite a bit of solid talent, but because of the champion being so much better than everyone else, people think it is fairly thin. Look at the MW division, too. When Franklin was champion, people thought it was relatively deep. Now that Silva came through and wiped it out, though, it is thought of as relatively weak.

And for the guy saying Rashad would beat Machida, I couldn't help but laugh. Rashad did nothing to show he could be in the same ring as him. Rashad probably won't get past Rampage, anyways.

good fighters learn from there mistakes man, Rashad IS a good fighter and its always easier the second time around because you can see your mistakes and work on how to beat the guy you lost to, you train to your weakness, it is possible. the only person who cant learn from their mistakes evidently is Frank Trigg

Ya, good fighters fix their mistakes. Great fighters don't make mistakes. Machida is a great fighter, Rashad is just good. Even if Rashad fixed some of his mistakes, Machida didn't even have enough time to show Rashad anything he could scout because Lyoto made such short work of him.

I dont think anyone thought the MW division was deep during Richs run, actually that was always the knock on the division even when Silva came along, it just recently has gotten stronger

I do have agree that Silva and Lyoto are making me question just how good the division is. Thought of LHW as the deepest in the UFC for awhile.

Very true point about so many of the top LHWs focusing far too much on striking. Given that the best in the division is so great at striking - and so is Silva - I wonder if guys like Evans and Rampage will go back to their roots...?

nah, when I do bet which is very rare its usually just spur of the moment if I'm watching fights with friends

Forrest beat him with minimal effort, and he struggled to finish a completely gassed 40 year old man and nearly ended up losing the fight. Then he KO'd a punch drunk washed up guy who eveybody beats these days.

Shogun is a realtively average fighter right now.

Shogun is a realtively average fighter right now.

Like I said before, Shogun was injured (knee) going into the Forrest fight and when he fought Coleman it was not long after he got out of rehab for a second knee injury so he didn't have time to fully train for that fight. Shogun was finally back to full health when he fought Liddell.

I look at it like this, the same way I look at injuries in the NFL...if you choose to play hurt, I dont want to hear excuses.
