Well he was injured for a bit, but he was excluded from the Spurs preseason. AVB apparently prefers Rose. There was even talk of BAE leaving this summer.

Here is where I think Levy is letting AVB get carried away. He just got Coco, and is about to buy Eriksen. But why? Lamela I understand, but some of the others are him just spending to spend. The midfield isnt stacked, it got crowded. Eriksen isnt really that good, decent sure, not better than Sandro, Dembele, or Paulinho. Throw in Holtby and Capoue.

Im pretty sure they will finish top 4 though, as definitely should. Well, of course, unless they pull a vintage Tottenham....which well learn more about this weekend.

Your thoughts on Eriksen are spot on with what the Liverpool scouts have said. We've had our chance to sign him, but Coutinho is far better so we moved on. The defense needs addressing because I still don't think they're particularly suited to play the high line AVB prefers. All they've done is ensure that some players are going to get upset about lack of playing time. It'll be interesting that's for sure. I think it finishes out this way...

Liverpool hope to complete the signings of defenders Mamadou Sakho from Paris St-Germain and Sporting Lisbon's Tiago Ilori in the next 48 hours.

The Anfield side are in talks with both clubs and hope to reach an agreement on the respective deals over the weekend.

Sakho, 23, who can play in central defence or on the left, has 14 France caps and is likely to cost £13m.

Both Sakho and Ilori, who is 20, are expected on Merseyside for medicals and further talks in the next 24 hours.

13 million sounds absurdly cheap for Sakho, I honestly believe it's probably for more. Not that I give a shit. Pay 25 million for him, I'm not sure why PSG aren't playing him. Dude is a monster.

We're not in the Champions League, we can't quibble over transfer prices to bring in better players when it will only leave us in a lurch as it did last summer. If the player is willing, and Sakho apparently is, having turned down Roma twice now, you pay what it takes to get him in. If you overpay slightly to improve your squad you still do it. You can't afford to continuously miss the top 4.

The major difference between paying more than market price for a player now versus when we were dropping close to 20 million for Downing, is that our scouting network is actually identifying quality players.

I think this is the end of the road for Skrtel. He'll be moving on now that we're bringing in 2 center backs. Ilori is an interesting one, beat Ronaldo's Sporting sprint record. His speed would certainly allow us to play higher up the pitch. Apparently got quite a bit of technique as well.

The attacker is needed possibly, but honestly could wait until the Jan window. Rather do that than spunk come cash on a sub par player, something we don't seem to be doing anymore. I too would like a back up to Lucas, but I'm also still not convinced that's a super pressing need. With Gerrard, Allen, and even Hendo being able to fill in. Frankly my 11 would go something like this (once Suarez comes back)....

Suarez and Aspas swapping throughout the match. That allows us to have Hendo, Allen, Borini, Sakho/Toure, Cissokho, Alberto, Jones/Given on the bench. (That doesn't even include my boy Kelly)

I think Aspas is going to have a huge year, from what I've seen he's got a huge bag of tricks. I might want someone to possibly replace Aspas/Borinin/Alberto in the matchday squad, but right now I don't want us to waste money. If we bring in Moses on loan so be it, but lets not get rash.
