I understand that. I don't know how many times I have to say it? I even pre-emptively told you guys to shove that shit up your ass.

The bottom line is that even though the AI/CPU controls what is going on, it doesn't control me. So even when the CPU is going robo in Madden, it still doesn't know that at the last possible second I'm going to it that spin move. In DeathSpank the CPU doesn't know if I'm going to block, use magic or flee. Sure it can alter it's strategy on the fly but it still can't 100% predict my actions. Whereas in these shitty JRPG's, 100 fucking percent is controlled by the CPU and the in game stats and you just sit back and "enjoy the ride", or vomit in your mouth in my case.

I'm not saying the entire came is 100% controlled, but many outcomes are out of your control, you simply pick X move vs Y type of tackle and a roll of the dice picks the winner.

JRPG's are not as you describe, but I imagine you're an expert on them to make such an assertion? I'm telling you, anyone who enjoys/enjoyed the genre will tell you, you're wrong here.

And in the examples listed by Twigg (one of which being Deathspank -- which I'll speak on) the computer absolutely can determine your actions just as much as in a JRPG. You hit attack, a dice roll happens that determines if you hit. You hit magic, a dice roll happens that determines if you hit. You choose to run, you're either capable of getting away or you aren't (one area I will say that an action RPG does differ is that you actually have to physically run away from the enemy and pray you're fast enough, instead of just hitting run and hoping you're fast enough -- but under the hood it's effectively the same). The point is, when you choose to swing your sword or cast a spell in Deathspank, the computer knows the outcome of both. In turn based RPGs, shock, when you choose to attack or use magic, the computer knows the outcome of either. Stop being dense about this and seemingly purposefully only thinking to the point that it supports your argument. You act like because it's turn based and I have a choice of what to tell the characters I'm controlling, the CPU still KNOWS what choice I'm going to make (ex. fight, flee or magic).

It's hilarious that you shit on these games while not understanding them at all.

Yeah, it's a shame. Since Seth wanted to mention it, if this game was like DeathSpank or Torchlight or Dungeon Hunters, plus South Park, I'd be all over it. But I don't care what the license is, I have absolutely no interest in that style of game. I literally despise and loathe these games. Final Fantasy 7, which is supposed to be on the greatest games of all time, made me want to gouge my eyes out.

The fact that Trey Parker and Matt Stone apparently love these style of games actually makes me like them a lot less.

I must've missed the part where more strategy meant more fun? Again I will bring up my NFL Head Coach reference. That game is nothing but strategy. It must be the greatest game ever made according to your logic? Maybe Front Office Baseball (or whatever it's called) is? Those types of games bore the ever loving shit out of me.

For instance, the free GBA games were just released for the 3DS Ambassadors the other day. I like every one except one. You want to guess which one? Fire Emblem. Even though I never played it originally I thought I remember hearing it was a JRPG. I fired it up and after about 20 minutes I wanted to permanently delete it. Nothing but talking and turn based battles. Next!

At least this game has the South Park humor going for it. One of the classes is Jew? That's hilarious. But I will never be able to get passed the turn based battles. Ever.

Battles were turn based, but you still had to do things when you selected your attacks in order to make them successful or utter failures. Curious if you liked those more or not than a traditional JRPG with a more select your attack and watch style.

The only Paper Mario game I've played is the most recent one on the Wii. You had to talk to people but most of the dialogue was funny. Th rest of the game was platforming. No turn battles. I was going to check out Bowser's Inside Story because I heard so many great things about it. Bu then I watched some YouTube videos and saw that all the battles were turn based and changed my mind.

You know i was really the same way as you until i played FF8. I never liked Turn Based RPGs but after i got immersed into the story and got a hang of the mechanics i loved the game. I went back and played FF7, Mario RPG and a few other early FF games.

But it would be a travesty if you never played Mario RPG. I'm sure you have a wii you can DL it on there.

Action RPG. I don't recall ever pausing the game to choose an ability. You do, do a lot of talking in the game, so there is a lot of old rpg standards in the game. Its been called a beat em up by several different reviewers.

The CPU doesn't do much for you, its entirely possible to not get some abilities and still progress through the game just fine.

And it seems that JRPG's, especially the older ones, are the most egregious with their standard talk, talk, talk, turn based battle, talk, talk talk formula that I couldn't give two shits about.
