I created this thread, so I wouldn't have to keep using spoiler tags. I also figured some idiot would forget replying to my question, so I just created a

 

thread.

So what do you guys think of the whole story? To me it seemed like the US turned into bad guys because of Shepherd. I mean all those guys we killed on the last 2 maps could not have been bad US soldiers right? There were easily 4 battalions of US Spec Forces involved and all of them couldn't have been bad right? He had to have lied to them convincingly enough to believe that it was necessary to kill 2 British SAS troopers and make the other 2 out to be traitors to mankind.

It also made England out to be the land of heroes, which is very different because in most games we are saving their sorry asses.

I figure in MW3 Nikolai, Price and MacTavish take on Makarov, with the whole US Military on their trails. I mean I don't even know if this actually happened in the real world, would the countries be able to cover it up or recover from their issues after the fact.

Also any guess on where Nikolai took the Dynamic Duo? And where the hell does he get all those aircrafts to toy with? AC 130 and a Dragonfly Chopper?

I think the soldiers with Shepherd were mercs. Everytime they talked it said Shadow Company, so I don't think they were US soldiers.

I hated how the story was so short and i didnt expect the cliffhanger ending. I was stunned when Sheppard turns on you and kills you and Ghost. I was like "WTF?"

But the ending was real awesome. Also, the DC level was my favorite in this game. The graphics were amazing....it was mind blowing to see Washington DC, a place i have been too numerous times, get torn up.

I never understood that with CoD4 or this game. It basically all revolves around the U.S. military and yet you have all these Brits like Soap and Price. But I guess they are part of the super secret Squad 141 or whatever.

I thought that too, but they were wearin US badges.......I guess they were impersonating US forces then?

I think Shepherd and Makarov coop'ed to create a war between US and Russia. So they could both profit politically. Hence how Makarov knew there was an American UC in his unit at the airport. But apparently Shepherd wanted to control more by killing Makarov, and then turning the US into a military dicatorship and wipe out Russia.

There are some similarities to MGS IMHO.

Shepard was the general in charge of the forces that were obliterated when Zakharov detonated the nuke in MW1. They killed all his men and nobody did anything to fight back, so he wanted to force them into war for payback.

I thoguht that airport level was brutal and then at the end the oen guy goes this message will send shockwaves across the world, then Makarov says this is no message, but this is, *SHOOTS YOU IN THE HEAD* My jaw dropped.

Also the score in the game was amazing the music going on while you were in Washington was amazing, hands down some of the best ive heard in a game.

O and I think the 3rd one will be them trying to capture Makarov so they can prove what happened and how Shepard turned into a mad man, because Price said in his monologue thing that the truth will be whoever survives and since they did there truth will come out.

There were so many cool ass scenes. One of my favorites was when you are rapelling with Price and you stab that guy in the chest while he stares at you as he dies.

I can't be the only one that thinks that Soap is a dead ring for Sev from Killzone 2.

And speaking of PS3 games, when you die and you see those quotes on the screen, I could've sworn I saw a quote from Nathan Hale of Resistance fame.

There were definitely some interesting quotes. I didn't get the Nathan Hale quote, but are you sure it was from resistance because there was an actual Nathan Hale in the American Revolution. Anyway, there was one from Donald Rumsfeld that cracked me up since he's so villified these days.

The opening scene of Gulag with Soap sitting next to you on the chopper was eerily similar to the opening of Killzone 2.

I was wondering about that. I'm no history buff so I wasn't sure if there was another Nathan Hale. There is a brief thread about it on Gamefaqs but that doesn't mean shit.

Now if there was a quote my Master Chief or Dom from Gears in the 360 version then I would know my answer.

Oh yeah. The DC level was so awesome. Seeing the capitol in flames was just crazy.

Also the score in the game was amazing the music going on while you were in Washington was amazing, hands down some of the best ive heard in a game..

I loved the music also. The eerie music in the background during the airport level was so fitting.

Makarov and Shepherds connection I'm still unsure of. I'm sure that Shepherd leaked to Makarov about Allen being undercover.

Don't understand why Price was in a Russian Gulag.

I think Shepherd killed Ghost and Roach because he felt like he couldn't control them anymore since Price took over.

Cod4 was actually more focused on the SAS. After Act 1 in COD4 thats all you play as. I think they do it because American forces are in a lot of other games so they wanted to bring another elite fighting force, the SAS, to light.

This game was pretty evenly split though between the Rangers and Task Force 141 which eventually became the super squad of Roach, Ghost, Soap and Price.

Another thing I liked was playing the final missions as Soap alongside Price, I was really hoping that would happen.

I dont get that either because they rescue Nikolai in COD4, yet they dont get Price who was a war hero.
