I think the biggest thing to come from last night, besides Brett being dubbed the Black Chuck was the friendly teaming up of Afflcition and Strikeforce

Scott Coker doesnt make enemies, let Affliction promote a PPV on Showtime! Maybe Coker will wait to see how much PPV money Fedor/Barnett card can bring in

Afflcition is losing money, they cant keep going, Strikeforce will have a HW to fight Fedor after Brett and Overeem go at it, clear number 1 HW outside of the UFC

So many match ups when you think about Vitor, Babalu (who is the strikeforce LHW champ already) Mousasi, etc...

Will be a great merger, Afflcition can go back to sponsering and let Strikeforce handle the fighters, money, matchmaking, etc...

That's kind of what I was thinking. Affliction's fighters in Strikeforce would be huge.

You guys focus too much on who beat who, resumes get thrown out the window when two fighters step into a cage. The only thing that matters at that point is who's the more talented fighter of the two, and in this case it's Shane Carwin.

lol @ the black Chuck. It's not a love fest for Carwin, at least for me it isn't, I know he still has to prove his self some more, but he's still a better fighter than Rogers is at this point.

I like Carwin, also having the college wrestler in his back pocket is nice, just seems a little to slow sometimes and is like 34 already

Brett is hungry, he is the real MMA Kimbo and is just trying to feed his family and buy some houses

hmm didnt realize but Diaz and Shields are training partners and close friends so a fight between the two doesnt seem very likely. strikeforce's middleweight roster is a little thin especially with cung seemingly more interested in making movies than fighting so i wonder where it leaves diaz and shields. perhaps diaz-lawler II ?

its not just his chin, he gets hit way to many times in the head flush, tough to have a strong chin when you get clocked clean all the time

I think it's funny how everyone thinks Diaz is a boxing God now because he unloaded on Scott Smith last night. Apparently you dudes haven't seen Smith fight before. He brawls, he takes punishment, that's what he does. He stands there and gets blasted in the head for three rounds while throwing nothing but power punches every fight, doesn't matter who he is fighting. Anyone who knows their shit should not be surprised in the least at the result.

The Rogers/Arlovski fight, Barnett nailed it on the head. Arlovski should have won the fight, but has a bad habit of backing up without moving his head. If they fought again I'd still put my money on Arlovski. Rogers is a big dude but if he ends up fighting Overeem he'll get exposed when he gets thrown to the floor and his arm ripped off.

And again, Gus Johnson is absolutely terrible.

Diaz has always showed good boxing, where have you been? only time he really got out struck was against Noons at 160, Nick has more steam on his punches at these higher weights it seems, he throws alot of punches and has a great chin

Also, I think most people said the same thing before the Diaz/Smith fight you just said. me before the fight

Diaz/Shields could be a FOTY canidate, I think Diaz will jab him up and get the win, Scott waits way to long to throw his right hand, Diaz will get off early and often

I guess I'm not impressed with his "pitter patter" style. Doesn't seem like good technical boxing to me, just looks like he's using his length to throw a bunch of garbage around. But it worked last night, so maybe I shouldn't criticize.

Dude Gus struggles to put together a complete sentence. Goldie is much more fluid and animated. I was listening to an interview with Joe Rogan and he was asked about Goldie's "lack of knowledge" and Rogan pretty much said he really knows his shit but asks 'ignorant' questions and makes silly statements so Rogan can answer the question - by doing this they feel they're helping educate the casual fans. So apparently Goldie does it on purpose and knows what he's talking about.

His pitter patter style if very technical, he throws a lot of punches and hits alot, not just garbage, his biggest problem has been head movement and getting cut, but he is a very good MMA striker, usually his lossses in the past have come from decisions were wrestlers and stronger guys have held him down

plus, I said before, there isnt any 'great' boxers in MMA, for 1 you cant use all the boxing tools in MMA as effective and plus they dont have the time to spend all day on just boxing because of the vast nature of MMA, plus havent been doing it for years like boxers have

He picks his shots. When he wants to hit hard, he hits hard. Usually when throwing body punches.

yeah, he can hit hard when he throws them but he is not really a heavy handed puncher which is fine because it works well with his style

throws multiple punches, all angles, picks his power shots, can keep a high work rate, etc...

he hit smith with some nice body shots just like when he tagged frank

well, if he is knowledgable or not behind the scenes, there is nothing from stopping him actually using it during a broadcast, it wouldnt hurt him to use it IMO

he can still set up joe, etc...and show he knows a little, I dont think it would hurt him to show he knows more than he does

Gus is still new to the business and is not fluid at all. At least Goldberg makes for an entertaining broadcast.

I like Gus, but he can get on the nerves sometimes. If I'm watching a basketball game, I want Gus calling it (right up there with Marv Albert)...but I'd prefer Goldberg or Ranallo.

AA just to polished and fast for Rogers, could be interesting if Brett can land a couple solid hay makers, but AA is to skilled for Rogers, Rogers took to big of a step up in comp for this 1, props to him, but it will get ugly for The Grimm

I told ya 34789847x in the other thread you cant be a boxer/striker in MMA with a glass jaw. AA's "game" is awful.
How many times does he have to get dropped instantaneously before you admit the guys got the most glaring weakness of a top 10 fighter.

AA and "elite" dont belong in the same sentence . Hes not getting better hes getting worse.

Only way for him to lose more convincingly is for him to get KOd by the vaseline getting rubbed on his face.




Diaz hits on target and at the right times with his punches. He knows how to catch those spots on the head and body when they are exposed and undefended. Not sure how many more times people have to see him beat the snot and knot up a guys face before they give him credit for his remarkable and unorthodox hands.

Randleman has no gas and no killer instinct. Could have won it in the 3rd and didnt. Could have mounted some offense a few times and chose to huff and puff. Love the guy but no fun watching him slug around the ring. Someone needs to buy him and Coleman some treadmills.

Baroni=Blah..another fight spent watching a guy with his hands on his hips catching his breat. Riggs manhandled him.


Diaz and AA fight were entertaining.

Main event was over very quick. Not a fan of either guy but impressive quick guillotine.



Speaking of announcers color guys....whoever the dude is giving interviews in the ring is utterly boring and crappy. Im sure part of the reason UFC was so adamant about controlling the production is so dopes like that dont end up on a broadcast.

but before the loss to Rogers he was the former UFC champ, on a 3 fight win streak and lost to Fedor, but this loss knocks him out of elite status, you are correct
