Syracuse Coach Bernie Fine Under Investigation

Just goes to show how people took glee in taking down Paterno, because as a society we search for reasons to take people down who have strong moral reputations. Just look at the treatment Tebow gets.

Boeheim even strongly supported his kid toucher, and flat out called the victims money grubbing liars. Paterno did none of that. But Paterno was a fun target to tear down, because of the super clean, all american from another era type image. "pffft, fuck him and his squeaky clean b.s., fire him, and I hope he suffers & dies from his cancer!"....pretty disgusting stuff was/is being said. AND WE STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT HE KNEW. We assume.

Meanwhile, Boeheim has been largely left alone by the public. Surely he MUST have known, right? Surely he allowed this to go on, right? He was there forever, just like Paterno. He IS Syracuse basketball, he calls the shots, just like Paterno. Why the pass?

From everything we've been told these stories are different, which would explain the differences between Paterno's treatment and Boeheim's. If it comes out that Fine had a known history and that Boeheim was made aware of an incident then you can compare. At this point the only thing Boeheim did that was wrong was to come out and say the kid was lying. You should stop searching for reasons to paint Paterno as a victim.

If he gets this, he's going to sue the university and Bernie. What do you think is going to happen at Penn State? You know how much money is going to be involved in civil suits? It is believed Beoheim had no clue about this......that is a major difference. After the latest reports of another victim and Fine's wife being on tape Beoheim has totally reversed his stance. Given his reversal it is reasonable to believe that had he known he probably would have handled Fine differently. Paterno's critics will say he didn't come out and say enough, which is fine. Paterno's actions on his front lawn after he was fired didn't endear him to a lot of people. It wasn't the time to partake in a Penn State chant.

The Penn State situation has created a huge public soap box that everyone is trying to stand on and be heard. Most of the subject matter has been 95% Paterno on what he did and didn't do, even though he's an actual grand jury witness for the prosecution and has cooperated through the entire process.

Boeheim on the other hand has scoffed at the victims allegations until yesterday. He publicly endorsed the innocence of this sick fuck. But I'm supposed to believe he would come forward to the authorities if he was in the same situation as Paterno right?

If I didn't know any better, Bernie Fine's wife and this kid had a relationship for years (prior to him turning 18, conveniently). But, oddly, I see this kid (Davis), having a "relationship" with Fine, as well, on some level...why would Fine be supplying him with money and he constantly be over his house, etc.

Really weird situation going on with this Davis kid and the Fine family...leads me to believe it might be more than a pedo just raping the ball boy, although, it sounds like Fine enjoyed the company of young boys regardless.

Boeheim's reaction is common...his right hand man was accused of being a pedo, and Boeheim, seeing this story as being shady as hell (which it is, although, it seems there is a lot of truth to it), backs his right hand man like most people would do if it was their best friend with the same accusations...

Do you not realize what caused the public outcry? Universities don’t fire people because of the public. Paterno was fired because his program was involved in a cover up and was enabling a child predator. This is what caused the public outcry! There was no way Paterno was going to make it out of this with his job.

Beoheim's comments on November 18th were based on the earlier investigation (old information) in which turned up nothing. Once the tape surfaced (new information) he changed his stance and apologized.

2002: Davis calls Syracuse police to report he was abused by Fine.
2002: Davis contacts The Post-Standard and alleges Fine abused him.
2002: Davis secretly records a phone call with Fine’s wife, Laurie.
2003: After a six-month investigation, The Post-Standard tells Davis that the paper did not plan to publish his accusations against Fine at that time because it could not corroborate his claims.
2003: Davis contacts ESPN and alleges Fine molested him.
2005: SU conducts an internal investigation into Davis’ allegations that he was sexually abused by Fine. It finds no wrongdoing by Fine.

Nov. 10, 2011: Danielle Roach tells Syracuse police a friend of hers was abused by Fine.
Nov. 17, 2011: Davis and Roach talk to Syracuse police. Roach gives Syracuse police a copy of Davis’ recorded phone call with Laurie Fine. ESPN airs story in which Davis and his stepbrother, Mike Lang, accuse Fine of molesting them as children. Syracuse police confirm they are investigating sex abuse allegations against Fine. SU puts Fine on administrative leave.
Nov. 18, 2011: Beoheim going off of 2002-2005 information accuses Davis of lying.
Nov. 27, 2011 – ESPN airs Davis phone call to Fine’s’ wife.
Nov. 27, 2011 – Amid knew information Boeheim recants earlier statement and apologizes.

This story isn't about Paterno, so he shouldn't be brought up. Just because Paterno was fired doesn't mean Beoheim and everyone after Paterno should be treated the same. You have to take each by a case by case basis. Fine's alleged molestation and public reaction or lact thereof as compared to Penn State doesn't mean Paterno/Penn State are all of a sudden victims.

At this point what McQueary said to PSU in 2002 and what the DA decided to put into the Grand Jury report were and still are points of contention at this point. Again, if you think you have anough information to say those things, thats fine. I don't.

Ive said on here that I understood he had to go. But how could they fire him for a cover up that hasn't even been proven yet? He was charged, tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. He hasn't even had the chance to give his side of the story yet.

I dont know if its a ploy for money and I dont want to come out as an asshole because they took advantage of the him when he was a kid but the guy repeatedly stayed over their house, he went to Fine for money knowing what the stipulations would be, he had a sexual relationship with Fines wife seemingly treating her as a confidant and he allowed himself to be violated until 27.

At some point the victim has to take some responsibility when they hit a certain age. I dont know what role the guys parents played in the situation but someone commented earlier that his dad has an accuser out there so it could be some kind of NAMBLA situation where the guys dad allowed it. IDK, just speculating.

I read this one wrong, that's for sure. Davis just came off as SUCH a weirdo in that interview and the timing and the story only being corroborated (sp?) by people who were close to him.
