No, not really. Its a horrible example. Mandarich was a player of substance. He was arguably the greatest offensive tackle in college football history. He was a product of steroids, not measureables.
Guys who are measureables gone wrong are guys like Darrius Heyward-Bey (speed), Kyle Boller (speed, passing from knees), Dan McGwire (height), JaMarcus Russell (arm and speed), etc. These guys were never all that great in college, but they had one or two notable physical attributes.
