How is he going to afford a #2 overall pick. A QB at that? How many players will have to be cut or severely restructured? Poor kid isn't going to have anyone to throw to.

I wonder if the Redskins can back out of the trade. Or if they would if they could?

Then they should have put it in writing. That was the whole freaking point of a lockout. To get all the grievances in the air and figure out a solution. And then put it all on paper and make it a legally binding contract.

This is complete and utter bullshit. I sincerely hope that Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones sue the crap out of the NFL for collusion.

Essentially, a bunch of the owners got together and said it wasn't fair that the guys with the most money were smart and structured deals to take advantage of an uncapped year.

Furthermore, this sets a rather dangerous precedent that the NFL, or even a group of owners, can institute any rule they want without putting it in to writing. They can simply pull it out of thin air and, if they get enough votes, decide to randomly tax or fine any other team they want.

I'm not saying it was unethical. I'm sure they had a gentleman's agreement where they all said they wouldn't. But last time I checked, being unethical was not the same as illegal.

I usually hate Jurrah and Dan Snyder, but this is one instance I think the NFL fucked up. Roger Goodell sucks serious balls. I am sure it's possible, don't know how yet, but if I could hate the guy anymore, I would.

Not really. The lockout was between the owners and players. This appears to be an internal issue amongst the league owners. I don't think the owners could "lock out" other owners. It would end up being like two VSN mods bitching at each other...a lose-lose situation.

I'm not a fan of either team but I don't think it is fair for the NFL to pull this kind of stunt just a couple of days before the opening of free agency. They have to completely re-work their plans for the offseason and the draft.

Two owners opted not to take part in collusion and the "good ol' boys" are making an example of them.

And Snyder does have them.

I hope people realize how the Redskins avoided cap hell all of those years, and how it is basically the same thing that they are being punished for now.

Take Andre Carter's contract- six years, $30 million with $12 million guaranteed. What the Redskins would do is pay out the guaranteed bonus in the first two or three years of the deal, with the players salary being low- in many cases the veteran's minimum.

Once the bonus money would pay out, the salary would increase exponentially. The Redskins would either have the player renegotiate their contract, converting that money into a bonus, or they would cut the player without a cap penalty.

So how does the NFLPA not call foul on that for all those years, but the owners suddenly want to call them out for it:joeybats:

Disregard the salary cap, according to Rayman here it's just a hypothetical number of what the team is/can spend. It's easily moveable on a teams part by waiving a magical wand over their computers in the accounting offices.

FYI, no magic wands involved. Money just gets moved to further years.

But yes, I said disregard the numbers and all you have to do is take a look at all the guys being signed by teams with no supposed cap space.

Take Dallas for example. Look at all the new players we've been able to sign so far with our $4.7 Million...oh, I'm sorry, -$0.3 Million (thanks to Herr Mara and Fuhrer Goodell) in cap space!

Like I said, the cap numbers are a joke.

 

Here's the part where I shout at John Mara to tell me how Jerry's ass tastes...but then Mara just responds by holding up his Lombardi.
