This isnt the baseball HOF, numbers don't mean as much. Any half way decent WR in this era has good looking numbers. Let's put Keenan McCardell in the hall.

He isnt one of the best WR's of all time, so I wouldnt vote for him. But he's been overated his entire career, so I don't see why that would change post career. He'll probably get in.

Art Monk disagrees. That is why letting Monk in opens the flood gates at the WR position.

At QB and RB, they've clearly drawn the line in the sand. Defensive players and OL seem to have pretty consistent criteria.

But WR, players like Monk opened the flood gates for stat compilers.

His stats say yes (minus the dropped balls), but tell Ricky Waters that stats alone will get you into the Hall.

I say that T.O. absolutely does not deserve to be in the HOF.

I don't care if he ends up leading every major WR category, T.O. does not get into the HOF unless he wins another ring. T.O. has been one of the worst team players ever to play the game as evident by being run off by THREE NFL teams. IMO, the only way he makes amends for his past is by winning another ring - or at minimum getting to another super bowl.

The NFL, unlike any other professional sport, is more about winning than individual statistics. Individual statistics do play a huge part as to who makes it into the NLF HOF, but even more important is the legacy a player leaves on the field. This is why guys like Terry Bradshaw and Lynn Swan are in the HOF, and a lot of other players with much better statistics are not.

This is just my opinion, but winning another ring would show that he isn't the team cancer that everyone makes him out to be.

I just don't see how someone that is known for being a team cancer can be rewarded with the highest individual honor that an NFL player can receive -- I don't care how pretty his numbers look.

At this point, the only way he doesn't get in is because of the voters bias against him. Yes, he drops too many balls, and ruins locker rooms but those same qbs he ends up feuding with have their best seasons with him on the team.

Yes, raw stats for WRs are more inflated for this era than any other but he's still statistically superior to his peers and has been considered at least one of the top 5, usually top 3 receivers in the game for quite awhile now.

Terrell Owens has the production that Michael Irvin wishes he had. If Michael Irvin gets into the HOF, then I don't see how Owens couldn't. They are basically the same type of player, except that Owens actually produces,

That said, its difficult for me personally to say Owens is a HOFer because nobody really wants him on their team in the NFL. I think its strange to say Owens is one of the greatest WRs ever, when every team he's played for tries to unload him after a few games.

Irvin has the big game catches , performances , games against top tier CBs/Defenses , reputation as a leader and a great teammate TO "thinks" he has.

Ill have to repeat. TO does NOT stand out statistically against this peers other than TDs. He was never a reception or yardage leader , he never had a truly dominant season in comparison.
Randy Moss , Holt , Harrison all have just as good if not better resumes than TO. Guys like Bruce , Tim Brown , Reed also have some damn good resumes in comparison.

Thats a shit ton of WRs. Noone outside of Moss IMO is particularly special or great in comparison to the others.

There's something like 20-25 WRs in the HOF...there's 7 listed above that have similar resumes. I don't see how TO is more deserving than any others above. I don't see how on earth all those guys are going to get in.

You obviously missed the point.

Why should someone that has been run off by three teams be in the HOF? TO put up some really good numbers in Dallas, however, all we've been hearing is about how Dallas is better off without him. Philly couldn't wait to get rid of him either.

There are a lot of receivers that have numbers nearly as good as Owens -- Isaac Bruce, Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, for example. Why should Owens get in the HOF over Bruce and Harrison, who have a ring and have comparable numbers?

If Owens has two or three more good years than he's probably going to get in. But if he retires today, hell no.

Once again my statement....Outside of TDs in no way does he stand above any of his peers or had a dominant season.
Even in his best years guys like David Boston , Rod Smith and Moulds were having similar seasons and guys like Harrison/Holt/Moss were having some obscene seasons.

People are severely underestimated just how padded passing/receiving numbers are the last decade.
