Terrell Owens - Hall of Famer?

Senser can chime in, because I don't feel like researching it, but no singular unit in the history of the game (offense or defense) has or will have that many players in the Hall. The early 90's Cowboys will have four (Aikman, Smith, Irvin, Allen). The Steel Curtain didn't even have that many (Lambert, Ham, Greene, Blount).

Weak attempt on your part. This is just off the top of my head...

1972 Miami Dolphins offense - Griese, Larry Little, Jim Langer, Paul Warfield, Larry Csonka.

1960's Packers defense - Nitschke, Henry Jordan, Adderley, Willie Davis, Willie Wood.

1960's Packers offense - Starr, Hornung, Jim Taylor, Forrest Gregg, Jim Ringo.

1950's 49ers offense - YA Tittle, Joe Perry, John Henry Johnson, Hugh McEllheney, Bob St. Clair, Leo Nomellini.

1950's Browns offense - Graham, Lavelli, Motley, McCormick, Gatski, Groza.

I still say I averaged it out last night and it's pretty much whatever you want more.

T.Owens - 73 Catches, 1,086 Yds, 10 TDs per yr (almost 11 with 10.7 but figured this yr might drop)
T.Holt - 87 Catches, 1,266 Yds, 7 TDs per yr

T.Holt = 14 Catches, 180 Yds
T.Owens = 3 Touchdowns

The other thing you have to take into account is that Owens has 3 more years on Holt. Which should actually make the numbers go down (since the longer the duration the less likely to sustain solid numbers becomes.)

The only other major difference between the two is T.Holt of course was on the Rams so he has the rings. I could easily have seen Owens do the same alongside Isaac Bruce but the fact still remains Holt has 'em. That's the other thing about Owens, he's never really had the opportunity to play with another great receiver in a tandem. He got to play with Rice during the tail-end and down-turn of Rice's SF career. Rice then went to Oakland where he sort of resurged a little with a new home, but then tapered off to the Seattle/Denver debacle.

I'm curious to see how this year plans out with Owens and Lee Evans on his side. While Lee Evans is not as good a receiver as Bruce/Holt, as he's hardly put up amazing stellar numbers since Buffalo's passing game has been near non-existent for a decade, but Evans is certainly better than any other WR Owens has had by his side in his career since Rice's old self.

1. You cant possibly be serious that that Rams team which had unselfishness/precise over the middle route running/good hands as a pre-requisite be as succesful with TO. Not a chance in hell.

2. He played with the best WR ever , he played with an elite pass catcher in Jason Witten and all he did was bitch. You put him on a team with 2 other elite pass catchers he'll implode.

3. Having a good WR on the other side is overrated. If your the best WR your going to see the best coverage no matter whos on the flip side. Guys who actually benefit more are slot WRs , TEs ,and of course the QB. Primary WR numbers dont fluctuate to dramatically either way with whos on the other side.




Far as numbers go I do think Holt/TO are fairly close. Personally TD I value more than yardage...but its close enough you have to look past numbers and look at the performances and skill sets. Holt just has a better package than TO. TO has insane durability and power , but damn near everything else is in Holt's favor.

Face the facts you make them both 23 again not a single GM is taking TO over Holt. You cant under emphasize his faults and point at numbers that dont stand out against peers.
