Leach's lawyer Ted Liggett disputed claims that James was locked in a dark "electrical closet." Two other sources told CBSSports.com that footage will be forthcoming that will show that one of the spaces where James was kept is actually a media interview room for visiting teams. Other players have told the Lubbock Avalanche Journal that they used a room where James was said to have been confined to get out of the heat.

What critical thought went into your generalization that coaches are stupid jocks with no social skills?

Lets look at a few facts about college coaching.
-You must have a masters degree (yes, this is a requirement. Feel free to browse the AFCA website and look at job qualifcations if doubt me).
-You must manage a staff of 20+ individuals (coaches, GAs, managers ect..)
-You are in charge of roughly 100 football players.
-You must fund raise
-You must do publicity

Of course that's just for a head coach. Networking is HUGE factor in employment and advancement.

Let alone the act of coaching itself. Besides countless administrative issues, you have TEACHING as a prime skill. Critical thinking, like...say...designing an offense. Lets look at Blooms Taxonomy here...lets see the three highest orders of thinking:

Analysis...check (Ever tried to diagnose a coverage and front in real time? Who's the force defender? What are the LB's keys? Is the DL read and react or are they stunting a gap?)

Synthesis....go read, say, any book on an offensive or defensive system and get back to me on this one. You can start with the AFCA stuff, it's pretty basic.

Evaluation....why jeez, what are they watching all that dog-gone film for?


Of course, I'm sure you've critically debated this process so please, inform the uninformed.

When a player has a concussion, a lot of times doctors advise that he be kept out of the sun... so keep him out in the Texas sun or keep him in the shade, where Leach claims he had medical personel supervising him?

Really, this just comes off as Texas Tech looking for an excuse to fire Leach. It's blatantly stated in his contract that if Leach is the head coach of the Texas Tech on December 31st, 2009 (Tommorrow), TT owes him $800,000.

I've got a feeling this situation is going to play out over the next few years.. and it'll end with Leach winning a wrongful termination lawsuit.

I'm not playing ball there though. My offers were all FCS and lower... and I was a plan B recruit for Furman and Elon and a few others because I'm only 5'9. Al Groh offered me a walk-on spot at Virginia... but then he was on thin ice so I didn't want to get screwed. So, pretty much, I figured its not like I'm going to have a football career after college, so I'm going to focus on picking a school that fits me academically.

I'm trying to be like a student assistant for the football team though... I wanna stay around the game as long as I can and maybe parlay it into a coaching career.

I virtually guarantee you can simply walk on. They are ALWAYS looking for bodies for spring practice. As long as you won't get killed, they'll give you a helmet.

Yeah its definately going to be wierd... I've had football every fall since I was like 3 or 4 years old playing in a flag league.
