Joe Saunders cannot be considered "solid" until he compiles 3 "solid" seasons. He can have potential, but in no way shape or form can he be considered solid yet. Ervin Santana? Have you seen him this season? His ERA has been under 4.6 only twice in his career, and has had exactly one good season. Kazmir has only been able to top 200 innings once, and ever since then his strikeout numbers have declined and the rest of his numbers are inflating.

i don't see the solidness behind these guys. Young=/= solid.

meh, at first I didn't really like the trade at all. We had 4 reliable starters and pretty decent bullpen depth if guys like Arredondo and Jepsen could pull it together, but after another bad performance by Trevor Bell, it really gives us quite possibly the best 1-5 in the entire league, plus we could probably send one of our starters to the bullpen during the postseason to be that 6th and 7th inning guy because Oliver and Bulger are just not doing it this season.

both guys are benefficiary of a good team, but they do produce wins. The numbers are not strong though.

A few other solid guys who come to mind, Lincecum, Lee, Josh Johnson, Roy Oswalt, Chris Carpenter, Brandon Webb, Matt Cain, C.C Sabathia, Jon Lester, Josh Beckett...

define what you mean by solid glen, it's a loose term.

But the thing is that Saunders isnt hurt anymore, in his last start, he was throwing in the mid 90s and he rarely even passed 90 when he was hurt. His command was there and his control was amazing, he's finally back to his old self. I'm not saying that any of these rookies are solid, I'm just saying that they've shown the potential to be a very good pitcher in the league one day, and with the pitching coaches on the Angels, they should have no problem reaching their full potential.

and OKCL i agree they have potential, but i don't agree with glen proclaiming the Angels rotation solid/acting as if Kazmir is your savior.

114-73 with a 3.91ERA fits your bill as solid. I can't stop laughing...

almost 7 strikeouts per 9 innings doesn't hurt either.

Carpenter has pitched a ton over an entire career, and is back to healthy now. Therefore he was/is now again solid..

yeah..Carpenter has been one of the best pitchers in the league this season even with some injuries and could possibly take home the Cy Young award...

I don't think Kazmir is our "savior", but I think he will really help. We add a Left Handed Power Pitcher which really helps the rotation because we lack both left-handers and Strikeout pitchers and both of these skills tend to go far in the playoffs.
