Well Dragon's Dogma screwed me over on a quest and some sidestory/loot. So I had one active quest going when I checked in with one of the quest givers. I noticed he had a new quest, but the game did not warn me that my active quest would fail if I accepted the new one. What makes it frustrating is that when I inquired about the final set of quests of the first act, I was clearly warned that I should take care of my remaining quests before proceeding, and I got the exact same warning only after I finished the quest that just screwed me over.

I am playing through this game on hard and these FUCKING BOSS FIGHTS. It's not that they're hard, it's just that every hit you take takes off like a third of your health. It's the classic not hard because of AI, hard because you're weaker and everyone else is stronger.

I love Nilin, FYI. Her voice actor reminds of Claudia Black <3

Yeah those fuckers aren't a lot of fun, especially later in the game. I've got a big combo that has like 3 or 4 regen pressens and it doesn't do a whole lot of good when there's a pack of like 2 or 3 of them lol.

And yes, Nillin is awesome.

I'm at work so I can't listen to this right now, but is this where he basically says, "you can't have AAA games with $300 million production costs and used games at the same time. It just doesn't work"?

What the game industry really needs to do is ask themselves, do games really need to cost $300 million? Some of my best gaming experiences over the last couple years have been playing games that have less than $100,000 budgets. Look at The Witcher 2. The game only cost $10 million to make, but was one of the best looking games around when it came out. These companies need to reevaluate how they are making games instead of blaming us for wanting these games.

A 30x difference? The average game developer makes $84,000 in the United States. I highly doubt guys working for CD Projekt Red are only making $2800/year.

Edit: Yes, I know developer salaries aren't the only cost associated with game development. I still do not see why games need to cost $300 million.

$300 million may be a bit of a stretch, but many companies are saying that "_________________ needs to sell 5 million copies to break even." That equates to budgets of at least $100 million. Examples: Dead Space 3. Tomb Raider. That, simply put, is unsustainable.

If I remember correctly companies are not saying they need it to sell this much to break even. They are Posting Sales Targets and the games that dont meet that target are deemed failures. They never said the games werent profitable. IMO the Sales targets were just way off.

All in all yes companies need to tighten the budget a bit on these games some how.
