Ryan was the host of the Bombcast. Ryan and Jeff were the 2 that founded GB. Vinny and Brad left Gamestop when Jeff was fired as well to help with the creation of Giantbomb. I think Jeff and Ryan are the owners of the site and operations. Now that leads Jeff as the main guy left.

I knew the bolded parts. I used to watch all of them on Gamespot but wasn't sure if he was the main man on GB

It is just going to be strange...listening to the Bombcast every Tuesday was about the only media that I have been consistent with over the past 3 years now. You feel like you start to know the guys. You feel like if you saw them at the bar you could approach them and get a warm hello. Same thing with the CAG cast. I find them both to be very entertaining and they help me with my commute every week.

I just wanted to share a few thoughts on my time with Dark Souls so far. This game is the hardest most rewarding game I've played so far. The fact that you cannot pause the game makes me always aware of my surroundings and the risk/reward for sitting at the bonfires(which are basically checkpoints) are so thought worthy because of the respawning enemies. At first I hated that but now I don't mind because I know to fight pretty much anything. The swordplay is amazing. Learning how to attack and approach each type of enemy is there and you will struggle even vs the lower peons if you don't fight them the right way. I've played the game for almost 8 hours and I am pretty sure I haven't even done 1 mission yet. They told me to ring two bells to escape the land of the undead but I haven't rang even one thing yet. I have faced two demons so far and both killed me multiple times and I went apeshit every time I died, but when I finally beat them, I jumped for joy. Flicked off the TV and basically told it to suck my dick. This game is great, but time for a break. I think I'll give ti a day or two before I pop it back in.

I was poking around on my shitty Windows phone GB app and noticed an abundance of old Ryan content and thought it was just the GB guys being the GB guys and poking fun at Ryan being married. Notice the podcast in remembrance today and think "they're really leaning into this joke" and then google the news and...yeah. It's weird to try and process and I could have never guessed that I would he legit emotionally affected by the passing of a video game personality but I totally am. Maybe it's his age, or maybe it's his newly widowed wife...or maybe it's just that I have listened to every Bombcast (some more than once) and I am having trouble processing that he wont be hosting anymore. I don't know what it is, but I definitely feel extremely sad and like something is just empty right now. Ryan always seemed like he would be an awesome dude to meet, and now that that's never going to happen, it feels very weird.

Life it too fucking short. Oh and the remembrance podcast was great.

A thought on his death....(don't get me wrong here, and also my understanding of how he died is listed there, I've not read anything new about it and could be mistaken)

I find it bizarre how we are react to this, considering it appears (tweet was deleted) he died from (or helped out) by severe sleep deprivation. Something like 10 hours in 3 days was his tweet on the day he died.

We, as a society, will basically shit on others around the world (Japs, Koreans) who seem to have this happen weekly in their starcraft 2 net cafe's. We criticize them, insult them and give no fucks. But for this guy, we act entirely different.

I just find that odd.

Yeah that's what I was referring to. I listened to it this morning and it had some really sad moments, but also somenreally funny ones that felt like something Ryan would be proud of. Jeff in particular was so funny at times that it definitely became apparent that humor was his coping mechanism. Particularly knowing how close they were.

Well I mean...I can only speak for myself, but I think that the fact that that stuff goes on is just as depressing. I don't have quite the same relationship obviously, but any young death is always sad to me (generalizing but I think you know what I mean). I know the tweet you're talking about and I do know he mentioned sleep issues due to apnea before. I assume due to his weight. I am sort of rambling here...I guess my end thought is that it's sad when death comes too early, be it in bed on your honeymoon or as the victim of addiction in a Korean Internet cate.

IMO i kind of feel like partying and enjoying your honeymoon (once in a lifetime) is a little different than playing starcraft for 70 hours straight. He must have taken some drugs in order to stay awake. Has there been a cause of death confirmed yet?

The closest to an official cause of death that I've seen is "natural causes" from one of the many obituaries that have been posted by people close to him.

As is everyone, I'm curious as to the cause of death. People just don't die out of the blue at 34. I can speculate but I won't. We will know in time I suppose.


I mean, is there going to be some strange twist? I feel terrible for his wife, unless of course they got married and she off'd him for financial gain.

In the Podcast, they alluded to (in a denying kind of way) the fact that he put away alot of alcohol. Could it be related to that?

I know I said I won't speculate but I know quite a few really fat guys, I mean one is roughly 450lbs and he is still alive.

I'm sure it was a health issue, but you never know. I don't mean this in a bad way but I hope that was the case, health issues .
I mean, he was overweight but was he THAT overweight? I will guess it was a hidden heart issue. Its sad regardless.

And I really don't think his wife did anything, it was just a point to say that you never know.


It scares me a little because I'm almost 46. Theoretically, I could drop at any second. Wouldn't even know what happened. Its just scary really.

And sleep deprivation? During the week I sleep 4 hours a night, which is only 2 more hours every 3 days. So, 10 hours in 3 days doesn't seem very dangerous to me.

I know he mentioned several times that he had one of those masks. It was no secret that he was a fat dude. Not breathing normally when he actually did sleep, being so sleep deprived and other health issues due to his weight...recipe for disaster.

Thanks to Buzzman pointing out that the price finally dropped to $5, I downloaded the Pigsy DLC for Enslaved. Man, is this game still beautiful. This DLC is pretty solid so far too. Nice amounts of stealth and sniping.

Yeah, I think I'm halfway through. I was thinking of starting the main game back up after I finish the DLC though.
