NFL Fans, we have a dilemma on our hands. Should NFL defenses held responsible for shitty offensive play?

Ex.
Last sunday, Joe Flacco threw a interception to the chiefs. The interception was returned to the 5 yard line, where Flacco preceded to push the line backer out of bounds. There fore starting the Kansas City offense on the 5 yard line and already in the redzone.

So after 3 plays Kansas City, finally punches it in with a throw to Wideout Dwayne Bowe.

Now the question is....


Who is responsible for the Touchdown?

The Defense for allowing the offense to punch it in from the 5 after given horrible position?

or

Joe Flacco and the offense for throwing the pick and putting the Chiefs offense on the field at the 5?

I used to think the same way you did, until 2 or 3 days ago when someone straightened me out and showed me the light. The coach put Flacco in a position to throw an int, you know, by calling a pass play. It's the coaches fault. And he did a poor job coaching Flacco on ball security.

It's the coaches mistake, not Flacco's.

holding a team to a field goal is considered a win because that is so hard to stop, but the points still count against the defense.

what? coaches coach, players play. an int is poor execution and failure on the part of the operator doesnt always mean a flaw in the design of the machine.
