Washington's already rugged test at No. 1 Oregon on Saturday just got a lot tougher with news that quarterback Jake Locker won't play due to a fractured rib, an injury he'd been trying to play through but was aggravated in the Huskies' loss to Stanford.

Locker first injured the rib against Oregon State on Oct. 16. He aggravated the injury in the shutout loss to Stanford, which sacked him three times.

Redshirt freshman Keith Price will make his first career start at Autzen Stadium, one of the loudest venues in the nation.

It's not clear at this point when Locker will return. The Huskies have a bye after their visit to Oregon and play host to UCLA on Nov. 18.

Locker passed for 286 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 60 yards in the win over Oregon State. In the two games since then, however, he threw for just 247 yards with two interceptions and one touchdown and rushed for negative-23 yards.

Locker is way faster, has a stronger arm and has better mechanics. But Tebow is just better at football.

I really think Locker would be the same thing he is now if he went to UF, but with greater talent around him he'd make fewer mistakes. He will get the Jay Cutler treatment leading up to the draft. "Didn't have the weapons around him, with the limited options available he made plays, had to carry his team, etc."

Not sure where I stand on Locker as a pro prospect, but I really don't see any Tebow similarities other than, well, you know, being running white QBs.

Locker is not way faster, his arm is stronger but just as accurate, I'd argue that mechanics are similar as well. Locker is far from a polished pocket passer with good mechanics. He has had more terrible games than great games over the last 4 years.

They have similar size, speed, and running styles (athletic, tough, bruisers with good speed). Some have reported that Locker runs a sub 4.4, which isn't true, and you'll see it at the Combine. He'll be a 4.5 guy at best and closer to a 4.6, just like Tebow.

If Locker was at UF, Meyer would have utilized his athletic ability just like he did with Tebow. Washington didn't put Locker in an offense that fit his tools. Sark runs a pro style offense. Locker is not a pro style QB. Put Locker in that spread option offense and with all that talent around him and he would perform just like Tebow. He had to do way more than he was capable of doing at Washington.

It really sounds like you've seen very little of Locker.

Yeah I've read those blogs and shit, it's bullshit. I've watched the guy for 4 years and I think I've seen him break a total of one or two long runs (30+ yards). Not to mention he is going up against Pac 10 teams that don't have half as much team speed as SEC teams do on defense.

I call BS on the 4.39 also, but Tebow was in low 4.7s at the combine, Locker will be in the low 4.5s.

I've watched plenty of Locker actually. He's nothing like Tebow. I agreed that he would succeed in Urban Meyer's offense, but that's fairly obvious. Does that mean he's similar to Alex Smith also? Not every running QB is the same.

Comparing Locker to Tebow is just as bad as comparing Jordan Shipley to Wes Welker.
