Look at Florio's history, he is known for finding an underground cause that he knows/cares nothing about and taking it mainstream to get air time

First time I've ever seen this from a Media source with as much pull.

I was very surprised to see this on NBC but I think it's good because it brings more public awareness to the NFL's practice here and how it's hurting consumers.

EA has had a hell of an offseason with interviews this year. First they refuse to say whether or not the license is exclusive (Probable because they know no good publicity can come from it), Then Rex pulls his chest puffing routine and "challenges" 2K to make a football game he knows they can't make, And finally you have Peter Moore talking about how important competition is for the consumers (unless it hurts EA of course).

I've grown as cynical and pessimistic about seeing a football game not named madden as i can get but seeing someone, anyone with that much national exposure, call out EA for their historically shady practices concerning how they sell their product to us consumers is refreshing.

Great to see someone with a national audience take notice to this. Still to this day 2K plays a better game of football, and that game came out in 2004...for $20.

Madden has been trending in the right direction the last few titles, but the foundation they started with in Madden 06 was so bad we had to suffer with a lot of shitty football games for years. The game will never reach it's full potential without competition.

Madden has been trending in the right direction the last few titles, but the foundation they started with in Madden 06 was so bad we had to suffer with a lot of shitty football games for years. The game will never reach it's full potential without competition.

And there is only one sport where you have competition, and that's basketball.

Remember last decade, in baseball you had the option of so many different options. MVP, MLB, High Heat, Triple Play. NFL had many options dating back to the N64, and then ended with 2K and Madden going at each other. NHL always had EA at the top, but 2K used to put out a solid NHL game to push them until the last console generation.

Competition made for some great games back in the day.

It comes out next month and there's not any info whatsoever on any changes/improvements to "Connected Careers" (or whatever the hell they'll change the title of the mode to for this year) EA has never been shy about putting out all sorts of info on the game by now and yet this year they've been so coy about everything. :shifty:

The only thing we know is that they gave us an actual practice. Probably not too much added or they would have tried to hype something up.

My hope right now is that the menus got an overhaul. They just move slow and are very cluttered. I'd love to be able R-click on a player anywhere in the mode and have it bring up his stats and information like how the PS2 version had it, instead of having to back out and go to "view rosters" or whatever it's called. More personality added to draft classes and the Twitter thing would be welcomed as well.

Not expecting big changes done to this mode, but there is a ton of little things they could add to make the experience better that would go a long way.

They started a different marketing model last year for next gen with all their Sports titles. We won't get CFM news til probably the last week of July/early August.

They changed the name from "Connected Careers" to "Connected Franchise" due to people fresking out because there wasn't a "Franchise Mode" option... Even though it was pretty much the same thing. True story

Do you mean actual practice like the practice mode in the game? That would be great to be able to practice with your CCF team.

Even remotely good would be enough for some people to jump ship, or at least buy both and give it a try. Some people may just want a change. One issue with sports games is a finite audience, except for football.

EA being publicly shelled by soemeone tied to the IRL NFL is new ground that has needed to be broken for some time now.

Now if only an active player or two would come out against what a piss poor representation of their sport is....

They only way it changes is if they make a completely perfect representation of the sport for the 1% of the buyers that want that.

Then they will royally piss off the other 99% that just want to score 90 points per game and run crazy with their favorite players.

The BIGGEST general complaint from last year? Graphics

The Biggest complaints in general over the last 2 years? Player editing and Fantasy drafts. Why? Because people want to be able to make players 7 feet tall and all 99 over on their team or they want to do a fantasy draft and have an all star squad.

Those items aren't representative to the realism crowd. The things we want would push away the masses that purchase the game.
