2011 Poster Of The Year
Here it is.
-Great game between North Carolina A&T and Liberty. Both teams shot well, especially in the second half, and the game had a great finish. I know people are split on this, but I love the 16 vs 16 games, and think it's great for the smaller leagues. It not only gives these teams a chance to win a game, but it also gives them a stand alone spotlight. If I were a fan, or even a coach, of a 16 seed I would prefer to play in this game, rather than show up Thursday at noon and get blown out in the first half by Kansas. Now NCA&T has a win under their belt, some momentum, and a little confidence with the butterflies gone going into the Louisville game.
-At no point in the late game did I feel like St Mary's had any chance to lose. They're just a better team. People are going to pile on Middle Tennessee St and say they didn't belong, but i'm in favor of rewarding the little guy who has the great season who stumbles in a league tournament, over sending some BCS team that goes 19-12 and likely had a down year by their standards. This was an important win for the WCC, and Gonzaga, since the WCC had a relatively down year overall and people were questioning Gonzaga's seed based on schedule strength. Losing to Middle Tennessee would not have looked good for the conference.
Very excited for the two games Wednesday night. LIU Brooklyn, on the heels of the big Robert Morris win over Kentucky, has a big opportunity to win the first ever NCAA win for the NEC, since James Madison leading scorer & rebounder Rayshawn Goins is suspended for the first half for getting arrested over the weekend. Rooting for LaSalle to beat Boise.
