I don't know they are so dead against giving him 10 years....and he seems so set in getting 10 years. I would be fine with the Cubs throwing $$$ at him (hell they gave a 1B $10M after a slumping year) next off season for the next 10 yrs.

I don't think any team would be smart to give him a 10 year deal unless they really have a 3-4 year window to win a title and don't mind in 5-6 years a guy in his mid 30s taking up 1/3 or 1/4 of their entire payroll.

A 10 year deal is just not a good move for any team, no matter how good Pujols is now. There is no good that comes of it from a teams perspective.

The reported 8-year, $200+ million offer seems more then fair.

If he's so bent on wanting even more security, the only way it's feasible for the team is with vesting options (plate appearances, home runs, RBIs, what have you).

If I'm the Cardinals, I'd give him whatever he wanted in a 7-year deal even. I could live with that. If he wants 200 million over 7 years, that's cool. 10 years though, you can't justify that. You just can't.

Harold Reynolds thinks he wont be a Card in 4 months, either traded to NYY or BOS for some package around Tex or Gonzo.

Can't see it myself, I think the Cards will hold onto him and get a deal done after the series.

^ Why people continue to grant merit to any of the rumors going around is beyond me. I've heard about 20 different rumors of offers that were reportedly made to Pujols.
