Season 1, Episode 2: Meet the Execs
July 27,2008
The scene opens with Devin Hester sitting in Bears' GM Jerry Angelo's office along with coach Lovie Smith.
Devin Hester: I'm not sure I understand...
Jerry Angelo: You don't need to Devin, we just need you to agree. Just think, this could win you multiple MVPs-
Devin Hester:*interrupts Angelo*- or it could turn us into the second coming of the Dolphins and I don't want that. My teammates don't deserve it so right now my answer is no.
Lovie Smith: Devin, this would help your teammates as well. He guaranteed that we would win a championship within three years.
Devin Hester: Bullshit! What makes him so sure? Huh? He's never even been an NCAA coach, what the fuck is he going to bring to the Bears?
Jerry Angelo: Dev, calm down. This can wait until another time, let's just finalize this contract so you can get out there an practice with the guys. *noting Hester's raised eyebrows* Don't worry, we'll practice in the same offense as last year.
Devin Hester: Alright, because if ya'll try and pull a fast one on me, I'll be back in Miami faster then one of my punt returns, ya digg?
Lovie Smith:*sighs* All this money for his attitude? I don't know Jerry *winks at Hester*
Devin Hester: *scowling* Fuck you to coach...
Lovie Smith: *pats Hester on the shoulder* Relax Hest, keep that attitude for opposing teams, trust me you'll see a lot more action then next year.
Jerry Angelo: Quit it you two! Ya'll are worse then my grandchildren. Now about that contract of yours Hest. Jay and I came up with a four year deal worth 40 mil over the four years. Sound good so far?
Devin Hester: Ya, sure but how come no option?
Jerry Angelo: Jay and I we *hesitates* couldn't come to an agreement about that part of the deal.
Devin Hester: I'm going to have to talk to Jay about that. What about the bonus?
Jerry Angelo: You'll be happy to hear that Jay helped negotiate you a much larger bonus then planned. The two sides came up with 15 mil. What do you think?
Devin Hester: Sounds Good.
Jerry Angelo: If you'd just sign on the dotted line, this deal is done and we can announce it to the press.
Hester signs the contract, shakes the two coaches hands' and walks out of the room with his hands in his pocket.
Lovie Smith: I don't know Jerr. Do you think he's game to run that system?
Jerry Angelo: Damn, if I know but the man I talked to said he needed athletes and Hest is the best we have...
Lovie Smith: Let's hope so Jerry, lets hope so...
