The Simpsons
Created by Matt Groening
The Simpsons is an animated, television show about a lower middle-class family in the city of Springfield. The Simpsons consist of Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie. The show also displays the troubles that the Simpsons must go through. Homer Simpson must somehow get through his job at working at the power plant, which is owned by Montgomery Burns, even though he does not have a college degree. Marge must balance the life of taking care of Homer and taking care of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Bart must get through his day at school avoiding getting in trouble and not being picked on by the school bully, Nelson Muntz. Lisa must get through the taunts of her fellow classmates because she is a "braniac". There are also other characters in this show such as Montgomery Burns and his assistant, Mr. Smithers, Homer's co-workers, Carl and Lenny, and Bart's bestfriend and classmates, Milhouse and Nelson. This show is currently in its 20th season and is going strong. For its 20 years of existence, this show has targeted children, who are mature enough to watch this show and any age group above.
My Rating
Main Characters
Homer Simpson
Homer is a character that is not as intelligent as the others. His addiction to alcohol caused him to not go to college. Now, alcohol is a sort of peaceful getaway for Homer from his troubles. Homer works at the power plant that is owned by Springfield Millionaire, Montgomery C. Burns. Homer must get through avoiding accidents at the power plant and come home with a paycheck in his hand. Although Homer does not make much money, the family is able to get through. Homer has a very intricate relationship with Marge. He and Marge met in high school and they have been together since. They fight quite a bit, but they make it up in the end. Homer is also an avid fan of choking his son, Bart, and complaining about loud saxophone noises.
Marge Simpson
Marge is a very interesting character. She is very fond of Homer, but she sometimes thinks that his primitive behavior is damaging Marge's reputation. Marge is very conscientious of what others think of her. She tries not to let that get in the way of taking care of the family. Because Homer is a very childish character, she has to take care of him too, along with the children. Marge is not employed and is at home all day with Maggie. Marge is a big fan of creating sculptures with popsickle sticks and cleaning around the house.
Bart Simpson
Bart is a no-good, trouble-making ten-year old. He is the eldest of the Simpsons. He is very much like Homer in that they both show primitive behavior. Sometimes, Bart does not know what is right and what is wrong. He is still a boy that is learning. He despises his sister and publically displays it. His best friend, Milhouse, has a crush on Lisa. Bart spends his time making trouble at school and at home.
Lisa Simpson
Lisa is what you would call the model child. She is the middle Simpson child, but she is the smartest and the most mature. At school, she is shunned by her classmates because of her superior intelligence. At home, she shuns herself from her family. She thinks that her father, Homer, is not very intelligent. She is much like her mother in that both make very smart decisions and are aware of situations that Homer and Bart are not. Lisa is an avid saxophonist and also likes to do crossworld puzzles.
