IMO, using these subs with the formation sub thing is cheese.

Your opponent has no clue you're doing this. EA doesn't tell you - two RBs coming into the game! Prepare! It just gives you the standard, 2WR, 1TE, 2RB thing.

Same for the backup QB. If Houtz brings Pat White in as a QB with the backup QB formation sub, how the hell am I supposed to set my D up for it?

In the real NFL, I see #6 come in, I prepare accordingly.

In the real NFL, if I see #23 and #34 in the huddle, same deal.

At least with the wildcat, we're given a warning.




IMO, RB at FB and backup QB formation subs should be banned until EA changes the game.



NOTE: I am not complaining about Houtz whatsoever, just these subs. I think they're wrong.

Adjust at the line of scrimmage? You see Marion Barber at FB, pinch your line. You see Pat White, contain your ends.

Adjusting at the line is fine, but it's still not the same.
In the real NFL, you see these players come on the field and can make the appropriate play calls.
Like when wildcat is called ... we know it's coming, so we can make what we hope is the right playcall.

But we only find that out after we've made our play call.

I don't think it should be banned either. Doesn't bother me at all really. Usually when things like that are done it's a couple of times in the game.

I see where Dave is coming from but this has always been a issue. It's not going to change until EA does something about it.

That's like saying "I understand murder is wrong, but I can't do anything about people selling guns."

IMO, just ban these substitutions. How hard is that?

what about swapping WRs? what about swapping out RBs like in Tenn case? Lendale and CJ is like Vick and bulger.

That's what I was trying to figure out. Dave, do you mean putting the #1 RB at FB? Or are you talking about the Dual HB package?

shouldn't be banned...i know sometimes guys use RB's and TE's in 5 wide...so madden sees it as 3WR, 1TE, 1RB...but your opponent comes out in 5 wide formation...now you have LB's in trying to cover WR's, depending on how the WR's are lined up.

I also have a problem with RB at FB, but I mean in the I formation, strong, or weak. I remember seeing Darren Sproles lined up in front of LT and thought that was straight BS. Now, split backs are ok (Pro formation, shotgun etc). I have no problem with that.

Yeah that is the default setup when the giants go 5 wide shotgun in this game, IDK why..

I think what he means is say in I formation I use the Dual HB package and have Ronnie Brown at RB and Ricky Williams at FB. I think I used it one time in our game on third and 1 where Ricky Williams was in there as a decoy. I did that fb dive, hb toss. It got gobbled up for negative yards.

I can agree with that but again that's a package in the game. If you try and ban one of them you may as well ban all of them.

i agree here its all or nothing. I say we keep it like it has always been, if its a sub/package allowed by the game there shouldnt be a problem with it.

Im not a big fan of a guy i played who every time he lined up in 3wr he put Calvin Johnson in the slot, but theres nothing cheesy about it. It just kept me on my toes and had to look for CJ on every play. F playing detroit by the way, they have one dominant Johnson , one sucky Johnson there numnbers are 80 and 81. You better damn well know the difference before you go into the game.

If I see Sproles lined up in a traditional FB spot, I'm shaking my controller with anger.

In a pro set or shotgun, no big deal.

We used to ban "46 speed" and it was a package in the game.
