Thinking of getting a PS3

If I got the 40 GB refurbished would I be missing anything? I'm not looking to spend too much money and 229.99 looks like a solid deal.

The 120GB hard drive and the warranty on a new system is worth the extra cash in my opinion.

40 GB more than enough to download demos. Very few demos even reach 2GB, hell most don't reach 1 GB.

Yeah, it was kind of a dumb question seeing as how thats how it works on 360, I guess I was thinking it could be different on PS3. The 120 GB deal looks pretty good to me, I'm pretty strapped for cash, I might opt to wait a bit longer till I can afford the 120 GB console.

I've had a 360 since launch and I really like it but I really want to play some ps3 exclusive games. I want to get the uncharted games, mlb the show, gow3 and a few others.

I'd go for the 120G slim unless you were getting at least $100 off for the refurbished, which you are not.

Those things are getting upwards of $300 on craigslist. Since I have a PS2 for any old games I might want to play, I sold my old one with 2 original controllers for $325 and went to Best Buy and got a new one with 2 dual shock controllers for about $50 out of pocket

One advantage to the 40's is that they seem to have an extremely low rate of ylod's, whereas the backwards compatible ones have a higher percentage. Relatively of course the system as a whole is still well under 5%

the systems come with composite cables (yellow, white, red). These dont provide HD quality. if you want HD you will need a hdmi cable or componant cables. You would need to buy these seperatly.

the 40 gig for 229 is not a good deal imo. why buy used for that price when you can get a new one for $300. I would wait until you have the funds to spend $300

the 40 gig is not backwards compatable but is more than enough space for demos and DL's. I have the 40 gig and it handles all my needs

You can skip the $25 component cables and get an HDMI cable from monoprice.com for about $13 shipped. Less than $20 to have 2 shipped.

Btw PS3 is so awesome I haven't played it much yet but I'm probably making the full time switch next year.
