Pace/Omiyale on top of going out and getting Jay Cutler then signing him to an extension plus a premier assistant coach is a pretty damn good free agency period...or at least it was supposed to be. The Bears graded out very highly in that category by most any objective observer. Yeah, the signings have fallen on their face but that doesn't make the Bears "cheap". They spent the money...it just has not been put to use. It's two separate arguments.
Being cheap =/= to signing players who end up sucking.
PS as of 2008 the Bears were 10th in the NFL in payroll. That was before the Omiyale, Pace, and Cutler deals/extensions.
Yeah and Pace being old didn't stop people from being excited about him. Nobody expected him to fall off this hard. Your own thread and it's anger betrays the fact that you felt Pace would be good, but he hasn't been and has failed to live up to expectations just like the rest of the team.
Yes, moving Omiyale to guard was a retarded move. But that doesn't make the Bears cheap. It's more of an indictment on their personnel/scouting department.
