I'm beginning to understand.

It's not the QB's fault for throwing an int, it's the coaches for calling a bad play and not coaching the QB well enough with decision making and ball security.

It's not the O-Lineman's fault for missing the block, it's the coaches for calling the play and putting the O-Lineman in a position to have to make the block, and not coaching the player well enough.

It's not the HB's fault he fumbled the ball, it's the coaches fault for calling the running play and not teaching the HB how to take care of the ball and not fumble.

You know what, I could actually point out to you how you just made my point. For example, Tiki Barber used to fumble a lot until Cauphlin simply taught him to carry the ball higher and closer to his chest, result Tiki goes from fumbling 9 times per year to just 9 times in the three years he made the all pro team.

Coaches can't stop a ball that's already been thrown in the air...that's for sure. But coaches can decide not to run 18 pass plays in a row and be shocked his QB gets picked. That's just stupid. Instead, run the ball a little bit, get better defensive players and make some stops, hire a DC worth a damn and make the defense better. Brees only gets sacked an average of 15-16 times a year anyhow, it's not like pass protection is a problem, but that run game has to improve. At least learn how to get a lead early and grind the clock out. Not every situation calls for a fucking pass play, Jesus! It's no wonder the Saints play from behind in the 4th so often, and again no wonder Brees has so many 4th Q picks. :tocktock:

So yea, good coaching can change SOOOO much more in the coarse of a game than a pick.

Oh come on, now you're just giving up. That's lame. Of course the players play, but the fact is that if you're throwing an average of 38 attempts per game, you're going to end up with INT's. A good coach would expect this and be able to game plan around these turnovers. The problem is that the Saints don't have the personnel or ability to bounce back from it. Payton's game plan only works when Brees is perfect, and no QB is perfect, none. Payton is the problem for A) not adapting in critical moments of the game, B) for not game planning according to matchups at all, failing to field a defense worth a fuck. That's not to say Brees doesn't fuck up on the field, all players and all QB's fuck up. But it wasn't like Brees laid a fucking egg in those games Nuk mentioned, I mean it wasn't a Jake Delhomme day or anything.

Yeah. Marty didn't have much luck with Brees either, despite having the 11th raNked defense in 2004... and the 13th ranked defense in 2005.

But I guess we can lay the blame on Marty Ball, which didn't plan around Drew Brees, by giving him the 6th ranked rush offense in yards in 2004, which was followed up by the 9th best yards in 2005.

We can go on and on for days, because when it comes to Brees, I can pull stats out of my ass... but I agree with bucky, just take the sarcastic route, and laugh at Brees at the end of yet another failed season.

Throwing Sarcasm aside, I give Brett, the coaching staff and the rest of the players credit for winningest regular season franchise. Brett was a huge part of that.

I'm just not going to blame everybody else but Brett for the Brain Cramps. Shayne seems to like making excuses for poor QB decision making.

I don't care if you put the ball up 50 times in a game, you shouldn't be throwing 4 picks. There is no excuse. Brees does this, it's his fault for throwing them. Just like it was Brett's fault for throwing his ints.

Just an excuse for poor QB decisions. It's only the coaches fault if the coaches game plan is to throw the ball to the other team. It's only the receivers fault if the receiver runs the wrong route, gives up on the route, or the ball bounces off there hands. Otherwise the int is the QB's fault. Even if the team puts the ball up 50 times.

You keep making excuses for Brees's ints. I don't/didn't make excuses for Bretts ints unless they were legit. See reasons above where an int is not the QB's fault.

I think Brees is a good QB, but he has to be accountable for those ints.
