I'm glad I'm kind of a Phillies fan. With the Pirates being irrelevant and me being 5 hours from Pittsburgh and still in the "blackout" area they're the only real team I get to follow.

For every shitty move the Pirates make the Phillies make a great move. At least one PA team has their shit together.

Well we are trading one of the best pitchers in baseball, it was almost a given that the Mariners had to give up awesome prospects to get him. It's just a shock that we kept the Mariner prospects and traded ours. I love Tyson Gillies, and I have no problem losing Taylor if that's who we replace him with. The only real loss is losing Drabek if Aumont doesn't get his shit together. But this deal looks really good for the Phillies, if this is legit then I tip my cap to Ruben.

I love this deal for the Mariners. If we give up Aumont, and Gilles for Cliff Lee even if its only for a year, Im all FOR THAT! If Lee walks, we get 2 draft picks which will replace Aumont and Gilles. Or if we suck it up before trading deadline, we can reload by trading Lee. Love it.

I think its an awesome trade based on the fact Lee isn't going to another team in the NL. Last thing we need to do is to trade him to a NL contender....Yikes.

Its too bad he didn't want to sign an extension with us, but I don't blame him to test FA. He hasn't made nearly as much money as Halladay, because of his off year and injury year, hopefully he can earn that in a year. I am glad Doc is willing to sign below market, that means the dude just wants to plain win. Fukin A. Now someone needs to get that into Hamels is head and order him to forget all the self serving public appearances and focus on having a healthy offseason and spring.

Jays immediately switching Taylor with Brett Wallace

The Blue Jays will trade outfielder Michael Taylor to the A's for third base prospect Brett Wallace, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.

The A's acquired Wallace from the Cardinals when they sent Matt Holliday to St. Louis in July. The Jays drafted Wallace in 2005 and were rumored to have interest in him last summer when Roy Halladay first hit the trade market.

Wallace went to college and signed with the Cards as a first rounder in 2008. The 23-year-old hit .281/.403/.438 in the upper minors for the A's and Cards last year. Ben Badler of Baseball America isn't crazy about the deal for the Jays, but Keith Law of ESPN.com says Wallace can be a better hitter than Taylor.

Taylor, who's eight months older than Wallace, hit .320/.395/.549 in the upper minors for the Phillies and fits into Oakland's system better, in Law's opinion.

Lincecum and Cain make a very good case but I'd still take Felix/Lee.

Our top of our rotation is beautiful, the rest of it is questionable. Is Morrow ready to step up and show what kind of pitcher he can be on a consistent basis? The Mariners still lack left hand pop. Hell, the Mariners lack pop all around. Picking up Nick Johnson to play 1b/dh to split with Branyan would be nice. The Mariners need a guy like Johnson with his OBP cause the Mariners have the worst eyes in the league.

I like this trade for the Phils, but I think the Mariners won overall. Getting Lee without giving up your top prospects can only be viewed as a win.

97.5 is surprisingly anti-this move for the Phils, bemoaning that if they want to play with the big dogs they have to spend the money to keep Lee, even if it's only for a year, and go for a World Series. This city drives me crazy sometimes. Hamels has a bad season and boom, they're ready to kick him out. That's all I hear: "Can you really trust Hamels to be a solid #2 guy!?" I don't know if he will, but my guess is that he'll bounce back. And the bonus is, if you get the guy that showed up 2 years ago, you have 2 aces, for a fraction of the money.
