Wrong. Comparing or measuring his completion percentage last year against traditional QB's makes no sense because he wasn't playing in a traditional offense.

For example, when the Broncos would run Tebow on first down for 4 yards, then on second down for 2 yards, followed by an incompletion on third down and a punt, that is an identical result to a traditional offense completing two short passes, going incomplete on third, and punting. Tebow is 0%, the traditional QB is 66%. Who cares?

The Broncos offense generally tried to throw the ball on 3rd & long, or to exploit an over committing defensive front. Otherwise, it was run run run. Clock control, field position, first downs. That's what mattered in the offense the Broncos were running, that's how efficiency was measured by the Broncos last year, and Tebow ran that offense very, very effectively (and the results are the proof, can not be argued).

This is why Tebow was able to have games where he would be 8 for 20 passing, yet the offense was perfectly efficient and the team won. Then all of the geeks would run to the boxscore and say 'herp derp 40% he can't play', completely ignoring the fact that Tebow himself ran for 80 yards, produced 2 total TD's, didn't turn the ball over, and led an offense that controlled the clock for 40 minutes.

That's why I say, in that scheme, 40% doesn't really matter. If Tebow was asked to run a traditional offense, yes, i'd be right with you guys, as I don't think he can do that. But who cares? HE WASN'T ASKED TO RUN A TRADITIONAL OFFENSE! As long as you let him run a spread option, the completion percentage remains irrelevant in comparison to completion percentages of QB's in traditional schemes. This is why I can not take the completion percentage criticism seriously, without the context of how the offense was designed to operate.

Of course you would prefer him to be in the 60% range. If he was able to that, he'd be pretty much unstoppable and Manning would be playing for the Titans. There is so little room for error in his play style, that he's probably best suited as a backup. But to say he didn't play well because of some nonsense like completion percentage, is just lazy analysis and not understanding how the stat correlates to efficiency in the scheme he was running.

It's not like they lit the world on fire. Tim Tebow was 8-5 last year including the playoffs, but seven of those eight games were decided by seven points or less. I give credit to the team for winning those close games, and attribute a good bit of it to just being fortunate. It's the same way I view the Niners. We were 13-3 last season, but in terms of talent I feel like we were more like a 10-6 team that got lucky more often than not. The Broncos to me were more like a 5-11 team that got lucky more often than not.

The Broncos were Marion Barber having a brain away from losing to Caleb Hanie and missing the playoffs.

Denver was 1-4 down the stretch and 3 of those losses were by at least two TD's and the other loss the offense put up 3 points.

While I generally agree with the above I think people are using the completeion percentage as the larger issue of Tebow not being accurate at all. He doesn't throw an accurate ball. It kills the effeciency of an offense. Which I guess you can say doesn't matter but I say it matters a hell of a lot and I think we already saw the league catching up to Tebow late in the year last year as a full time starter. (1-4) in his last 5 games. Dude is just a piss poor passer. There's not much way around it. He's interesting as hell to watch and if he could fine a team just running his package he will be fine. As a full time NFL QB..............it'd be ugly..and in a hurry.

I actually like him in Jacksonville...I think it's a solid fit. And I can see him in other offenses as a gadget player, but not as a starter until he shows improvement. But the jury is out, one bad season doesn't make him a bad player. My simple opinion is this: Tim Tebow was a horrible quarterback in 2011. What he does in the future has yet to be seen.

I guess he has "earned" the right to start but IMO not in New York and maybe not in Jacksonville if Gabbert out performs him. Right now guy is a QB with an 8-5 record and shitty QB numbers with a marginal rating. He's earned the right to start if he outperforms the guy in his new city. Not just because he's Tim Tebow.

Tebow likely wants to go to Jacksonville anyways. Forget who reported it yesterday but they said Tebow was "homesick".

Jacksonville is the best set up for Tebow, the team, and the NFL. Whether he sucks or not it might help save/keep afloat a franchise that was having major financial issues.

However, Jacksonville provides an interesting spot. If he's an awesome QB, he should be able to overtake Gabbert. However, if Gabbert becomes the man, Tebow can be a great gadget player too.

However, Jacksonville has awful personnel men...so, I doubt they'd ever use these guys or coach these guys up to a level where either of them are any good.

I understand why the Jets would do this but I'm kinda happy the trade hit a snag.

Sanchez is still trying to prove himself as a QB in this league. He's really in that year to years where it's all or nothing as the franchise QB. Bringing in Tebow would just complicate matters from the fans to the media to the team brass. I would like Sanchez pushed just as much as the next fan but not by someone who's popularity clouds many judgements.
