Titans agreed to terms with OG Andy Levitre on a six-year, $46.8 million contract with a $10.5 million signing bonus.
Free agency's top guard is off the market. Levitre graded out as the NFL's top pass-blocking guard last season, per Pro Football Focus, and was also part of a Bills rushing unit that ranked third in yards-per-carry (5.0). He's just 26 years old and fills a massive problem area for the Titans. Chris Johnson will have a harder time throwing his offensive line under the bus next season and Jake Locker will certainly have more time in the pocket.
Titans agreed to terms with TE Delanie Walker, formerly of the 49ers, on a four-year, $17.5 million contract.
The deal contains $8.6 million guaranteed. Tennessee was super active in the opening hour of free agency. They add Walker to their haul along with LG Andy Levitre. Walker is a tremendous blocker, and the Titans will pair him with raw, but athletic Taylor Thompson in an effort to replace free agent Jared Cook. Walker's signing could signal a reduced role for blocking-only TE Craig Stevens.
Titans re-signed FB Quinn Johnson.
Johnson should be returning as Chris Johnson's lead blocker, but may have to compete with Collin Mooney in camp.
Titans released S Jordan Babineaux.
It was an expected move after the Titans signed George Wilson. One of the league's worst safeties in 2012, Babineaux was benched twice as the Titans struggled for answers on defense. On the wrong side of 30, he'll find the market cruel.
Titans released G Mitch Petrus.
Petrus is a career backup that bounced around between three teams in 2012 alone. It's another sign the Titans are closing in on free agent prize Andy Levitre.
