Aren't NBA teams like the Bobcats and Raptors actually losing money though? I thought I read somewhere a decent number of teams are bleeding cash.

Yeah there are a bunch that are, not sure if the Raptors are.

Bucks, Warriors, Grizzles, Wolves Kings, Bobcats and Hornets are the biggest teams in the hole.

Some relatively good teams with healthy fan bases lost too like the Mavericks, Blazers, Orlando (they have a new stadium though so they should be good for now)

I have never heard of any financial issues in Toronto. I cant confirm or deny if we lost or made money last year because as FedEx said, even some good teams are losing money, altho I really doubt we're one of them.

Forbes reported the Blazers, Mavericks, Magic, Hawks, Hornets, Pacers, Bobcats, Nets, Bucks, Grizzlies, Wolves and Kings lost money last year.

The Lakers and Bulls made north of $50 million, the Pistons and Rockets made more than $30 million and the fucking Knicks made $21 million.

The Thunder made $12.7 million.

If you cut teams based on market size, you would cut New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Utah, Milwaukee and San Antonio.

If you cut based on money, they would likely cut Portland, New Orleans, Indiana, Charlotte, Milwaukee and Memphis.

Ideally, to improve the sporting aspect, it would be a great idea.

But there's no way in hell the NBA cuts six entire teams/markets out and fires hundreds of personnel and axes 72 player jobs plus the coaching jobs overnight. The league would have to be in a perilous position financially and that's nowhere the case right now.

It would be sweet to have some of the just average players who don't belong in the NBA gone.

My biggest issue with the NBA is the lack of set offenses. It's like watching pickup games most of the time.

Thats not true. They are running plays nearly every time down court, they just aren't as obvious as high school and college because it's usually not too many passes to accomplish what they want. It's typically to get one guy open as opposed to passing it around and motioning it across the court to try to create a breakdown in the opposing defense. They are screening and using floor spacing every single time to create the opening they are looking for.

People just need to stop making excuses as to why they were suckered into the Jordan era and confused that with actually enjoying the NBA game. The fact is the league is full of talent, full of guys who care, who play hard, etc. The league isn't an And-One Tour, as guys understand how to play the game, the season isn't too long, there aren't too many teams and they aren't overpaid.

The real truth is that the NBA during Jordan's era was at its absolute peak. This was a time when the NFL didn't have the popularity it has today, due to the lockout MLB was on the decline and the sports media certainly didn't have the influence and it never cared about athletes' activity off the court as it does today. The NBA was packaged beautifully by NBC.....if you grew up during this time you still know the NBA on NBC intro song. The Jordan era was highlighted by the GOAT and other marketable stars who while being black appealed to mainstream America. They were clean cut, no tattoos, well spoken, etc. There were guys like Bird, Price, Mullin (although he sounds like he's black), Stockton, etc who were white stars that mainstream fans could identify with and foreign players were far and few between.

The league was great then and its great now.
