Too Digital or Not To Digital

Ok guys, NBA2K is almost here. After the MLB The Show digital download issue I have been a little uneasy about digital games. Help me make a decision. Should I get a hardcopy or go digital?

I bought FIFA and Madden digital and it was fine. Did the same with 2k last year.

The coolest thing about digital on the PS store is you can pre-download and install the game so it's ready to go the moment of release.

For sports games it's always digital. Resale value is so much lower by the time you are done with them.

I never go digital on anything. Even though gamestop will only give me $6 for 2k14 i found someone on craigslist who traded me last year's FIFA which i didnt play for my 2k. I trade or sell everything through craigslist and dont give in to the puny trade in values.

I never go digital, especially on sports games. With Best Buy's promo this year, you could've traded in your Madden 25 for $35+ a week from Madden 15's release. Can't beat that and there are always promos.

Only game I will go digital for is Halo: MCC.

I'd get a physical copy, sounds like there's a lot of bugs and problems with online play again. What's happened to 2k??

Until there is a significant price difference between the two there is no reason to go digital. Unless you have upgraded to a HDD with a few TBs you will be deleting shit soon. If you get the itch to play a game after you delete you have to redownload in addition to installing. While you will have to reinstall you wont have to redownload with a disc. And you obviously can sell the game later, game stops rip off deals aren't your only option.

It all depends on if you're certain you will have no interest in selling or trading the game in later. For the most part, that's not sports games for me so I'll avoid downloading them (my one exception was the UFC game...tho that's not going to be yearly releases like most sports releases).

Sometimes, PSN has some savings (for example, Evil Within is $53) and there's no tax like Knubb said, so that's cool. If you can be sure you won't want to trade it in, it's a hell of a convenience.

Not to mention being able to get the game at the exact release time, and not having to have someone unlock a glass case to get it for you or being begged by some poor GameStop schlub to pre-order 15 games I have no interest in while it takes him forever to ring me up.

I'm never leaving the house to buy a video game again. I'm kinda surprised so many people still cling to their discs. We've been basically 100% digital on the PC gaming front for almost a decade.

I get what BB is saying about having to delete shit. I had to wipe last year's Madden and FIFA from my HD. And I used to love to buy games, beat them quick, and sell them on eBay for $45 too. I get all that..

But I literally just bought and downloaded NBA 2k15 from my phone, at a stoplight, on my way to work.

I'm never going back.

The quality and value of PC games is usually a lot higher in comparison to consoles which makes it easier to go digital. A good game on the PC can last for years to decades, UT, UT 2k4, Quake, Dota 2, LoL, etc. That type of longevity on the console is extremely rare, typically you're keeping a game for a year or two till you're done with it and looking to trade, if that. PC master race.
