Too bad we had such a shitty team for Sproles senior season, or he could have made a Heisman run. He was so fun to watch though, he did things with his feet that you didn't think were humanly possible. One of my favorite plays was when he dragged that Nebraska defender 5-10 yards for the score.

The only guy who I think really got snubbed from this list is Ray Rice. He had 3500+ yards and 40+ TDs in 2006 and 2007.

Yeah, that's why I used the shoulder shrugs. I know he played 10 years ago, but the majority of his college career was spent over 10 seasons ago. His senior season was pretty good though. I just wouldn't have listed him because 3 of his 4 seasons were over 10 years ago. Duckett was dope though.

As a Clemson fan, I remember the days of James Davis and C.J. Spiller. Those were better days. So far, nothing from them in the NFL.

Another fun backfield was Ray Rice/Brian Leonard at Rutgers.

Speaking of Leonard, his NFL career was snakebit. He was drafted to the Linehan Rams, where he played for two years and won 5 games. Then he was traded to the Bengals. Has there ever been an NFL player who won less games in four seasons?

I'm pretty sure Leonard was with the Bengals team that went to the playoffs in 2009... so I don't think he's that snakebitten. Oddly enough that backfield has done far better in the pros than the highly heralded Bush/White backfield.

Good list btw, very accurate with placings as well.

Mike Hart should be in consideration as well. He wasn't flashy but he rushed for over 1,000 yards in three seasons and probably would have in his sophomore year too if he hadn't been injured.

If production was the #1 criteria of my list, then guys like Mike Hart and Larry Johnson would have made it. My criteria was more of how brilliant their talent was and how exciting they were. Hart was more of a grinder guy (like Chris Perry, too), and whenever I saw Johnson play someone decent he'd be held to like 40 yards.

My favorite college running backs have always been ones that run angry or have a chip on their shoulder...like, they are from the streets and need to get out or they are too small and always told they are too small or just the big angry black guy or the big angry white white guy.

If a running back falls under one of those categories in college...I probably like them.
