Besides that, though, he needs a good line. He's definitely top ten in talent, but he's gonna need top ten production. I think with a better line, he'll definitely get their though.
1120 yds, 7 TD; 297 receiving yds, TD
I think next year, just based on the conference he plays in AND the fact that he'll be starting more games, plus him getting closer to his peak, his numbers are gonna be higher. Now, he averaged 5.9 this year. If he averages 5.9 this year and gets his carries + LJ's carries, he'll have:
1894 yds... I think somewhere around 1600 is more likely. If he averages 5.6, he'll have 1766... But they'd probably use him more in the passing game, which could bring him down to 300 carries (18.75 a game) + 73 catches (his 40 catches, LJ's 12 catches, and the spare 21 touches) * 8.5 y/catch (his career average - 10.1 rookie year, 7.4 this year) =612 yds... I'd think somewhere around there would be accurate...
Mostly imperially, with a little estimation, his rushing numbers would be 300 carries for 1710 yds (5.7 y/a) with 14 touchdowns (he averaged a touchdown ever 27.14th carry last year, times 300 = 11; I think that's a little low).
Receiving, I bump the 8.5 to 9 y/catch * 73 catches = 657 yards; two touchdowns on 67 catches so far in his career... I'd say six or seven is more accurate...
He returned one kick for a touchdown last year - 925 yards, 24.4 average, 36 returns, one TD
But this is all guestimation with a little math worked-in...
2010 Jamaal Charles|Rushing|Receiving|Returning
Touches|300|73|32
Yards|1710|657|781
Touchdowns|14|5|1
It might seem a little off-base, but this is just an estimation prediction...
I can't wait to see Charles rush for 5.9 ypc over an entire season and against better than blow average defenses. Defenses ranked 21 on average facing Charles when he took over. Against tougher opponents on average next season it's safe to say his ypc will drop. With 300 carries at a 4.6 average even he'll have 1,380 yds, and I have no idea what will happen to his touchdowns. Johnson faced 3 teams in the top 10, and 9 teams in the top half. btw.
