Regardless of dump-offs it's still receiving yards and still good enough for fifth best after Week 1. I understand this is going to drop. I was just pointing out that the best Wide Receivers that some people are mentioning failed to beat out a running back in their own stat line.

Agreed. It's not all about stats, it's about production, where the team stands, etc. Larry Fitz has oodles and oodles of talent and in my opinion is the "Next" great receiver after the current cream of the crop retire, Fitz will probably be in top 5 for the next decade if he can stay healthy.

When I look at the list, and I'm seeing these names here. I'm not seeing really anyone outside of Randy Moss that's deserving of the title "Top Wide Receiver" sure any given week any one of those guys could make the claim, but who does it more consistently than Moss has over his career? Haven't seen production like his since the days of Mr. Rice.
 
Moss was amazing in Minny. Moss was the master of the real life rocket catch. He wasn't motivated in OAK. But now with NE having Brady... is there any way to stop him? Last year he had 69 catches, 1,008 yards, 11 TDs. And that was with Matt Cassel at QB for 15.5 games. Owens had 69 catches, 1,052 yards, and 10 TDs. With Tony Romo at QB. Owens also pissed management off to the point where they let him go. But yea, OWENS IS AWESOME!!!! haha

Steve Smith is the most complete WR in the NFL.

He can beat you deep with his speed and he is one of the best route runners in the league. He catches everything and can run every route unlike half the guys on this list.

He can also go up for jump balls, break tackles, avoid tackles, block, and carry the ball unlike most other receivers in the league.

Most underrated player in the league because he has Jake Dillhole throwing him the ball. People seem to forget just how amazing Smith is because he isn't 6'4" and getting 10 catches a game.

Voted for Andre. Dude does everything. My favorite aspect about Andre Johnson is that he gets yards after the catch on almost every pass. Best WR not listed(homer response) is Lance Moore. That guy gets overlooked because Drew Brees hits 10 different targets every game. Moore doesn't drop passes and has deceptive speed after he makes a cut.

Randy Moss is the best deep ball receiver in the league and probably all time but that alone doesn't automatically make him the best wide receiver in the league.

There are much better route runners than Moss. There are much better blocking receivers than Moss. There are much better YAC receivers than Moss. There are tougher receivers than Moss and there are guys who have better hands than Moss.

You guys are putting too much stock into the deep ball. Just because Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss can run a streak and either burn the corner or just jump right over the corner to make the catch doesn't make them the best receivers in the league.

Although incredible and spectacular and a rare breed, they are both far from being complete receivers.

Guess it comes down to what you value more but when I think of the "best wide receiver in the league," I don't think "best deep ball receiver in the league," like some of you do.

I voted for Moss, but its a tough choice picking the best WR. I think you could make a case for Moss, Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, or Steve Smith as being the best in the league.

Personally, if Calvin had something resembling an NFL team around him, he'd be the best in the league. If Stafford doesn't work out, no way he sticks around Detroit.

He's not just the best "deep ball WR" in the league, although he is that, too.

No one has to gameplan any WR in NFL history like they have to do with Moss. With Moss it's more then streaks since his Patriots days, anyway -- he's used in a variety of ways. Comebacks, deep ins, he goes over the middle now -- he's the best WR in the league and probably the biggest offensive threat in NFL history with how he changes offenses and makes everyone around him that much better.

Moss no.1 and its pretty damn hands down.

Noone makes the plays demands as much attention and can change the complexion of a game with one catch like Moss.

Fitz is a very very close second.
Steve Smith/Andre Johnson are pretty closely knit after those.
