Strikeforce Challengers on 8/13 did a 0.76 rating and 237,000 viewers for the show headlined by Joe Riggs vs. Louis Taylor and the women’s tournament. No way Riggs vs. Taylor (who nobody knew) did that number. It’s one of the highest rated (I think third place) Challengers shows since Showtime did MMA, and the second highest was the show built around Kim Couture vs. Kerry Vera, so when it comes to the Friday night late shows, the women mean something. That’s up from 0.59 for the 7/23 show (which also had a women’s fight on it, but it was good fighter Sarah Kaufman as opposed to “pretty girls” Couture and Vera or in this case, Miesha Tate who they’ve been trying to market). I’ve written this before, but if you were to see Tate in person, she’s super attractive. In photos and television, it never comes across anywhere close to doing her justice. But her marketability is based on photos and her face on television along with if she can win her fights and talk well and basically get over. The peak rating was 0.90 for the Liz Caramouche vs. Colleen Schneider match in the middle of the show. The one thing about Strikeforce Challengers show ratings is that when you’ve got a show airing from 11 p.m. to around 1:30 a.m., the peak is usually not going to be with the main event, although historically it has been more often than not with the No. 2 from the top match and this was before the tournament final and the main event.

I would violate Tate with a furious rage, I don;t know what he's talking about, it definately comes across.

But yeah, is Strikeforce on to something with the broads?

None of these girls currently are Gina, but some of them can be Gina-Lite, Tate, Vera, plus Megu for the Shoguns of the world draw interest

They have to be good looking though, only Cyborg can get away with it because she has the Mike Tyson of WMMA thing going right now

Strikeforce should push them, but not over go overboard and make it GLOW for MMA

I don't like watching women do anything athletic. Basketball sucks, wrestling sucks, MMA sucks...everything. It's just an inferior product, I want to feel like i'm watching the best. I like watching Cyborg because she has that freakshow vibe, otherwise i'd rather be watching mediocre men than top women.

Women's Volleyball, maybe Tennis (and it has to be Serena or Venus type shit) and that is about it for me.

Women's MMA is a nice break in the action, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch and I definitely wouldn't buy a PPV featuring that in the main event.

Agreed. There's only but a select few females in MMA that could be considered great athletes or great fighters. It's not sexist, it's just something that they're not naturally built for.

Female volleyball is tremendous stuff..

Female tennis is completely inferior to the mens product and is a circus for the most part. Those bitches cant hold serve for their life. But I still enjoy it because I enjoy tennis.

I dont mind womens MMA, I think it can be entertaining, but I will admit thats usually when im taking the few minutes to roll a joint, or go to the bathroom, or grab some food. It will always take bottom priority to the men..

Women's MMA is awful, just awful. It is like watching a sloppy match, but it won't ever get any better. The occasional sloppy match is fine, but every women's match is just painful.
