I've watched more wrestling between the hours of 1am and 3am (the fucking gooks) than I did watching the normal shit during the week.
Gives me that Hardcore TV feel when I'm watching PWG PPVs on a random tube channel on some spyware and trojan filled site.
Oh, and FWIW...I could have easily slotted Tanahashi with the Most Outstanding Wrestler, but I didn't for a few reasons...
1) In my head...he and Okada kind of split the vote. I could have made a legitimate argument that Okada had an overall better year than Tanahashi...Okada, too, didn't have a single bad match all year...none. Neither did Tanahashi, and I think his match with Suzuki at KoPW put him ahead of Okada, but I think overall, both of those guys split the vote...they were an easy 2/3 though. I could have easily said Okada and felt fine with my choice now or 5 years from now with it.
2) For many of the reasons that Fed suggested in regards to El Generico...Tanahashi and Okada had tons of big matches, but I feel like El Genericos body of work...while I personally don't had a single match in comparison to a few matches from each Tanahashi or Okada...I feel his global body of work is something really noteworthy. Tons of different companies...tons of great matches against a variety of talents in a variety of settings...He can go from a trilogy with Ibushi to a trilogy against Del Sol, to tagging with Del Sol to high quality matches, to going HAM on Kevin Steen, to going to DragonGateUSA and having good matches with everyone there. Its like...Tanahashi and Okada were Miggy Cabrera and El Generico was Mike Trout...which leads me to...
3) I just wanted to give this motherfucker an award. Generico is awesome...and sure, you and I can say he's awesome, but the guy doesn't really get the recognition that he should for being a legit workhorse. So, I said fuck it, I'm giving him the award.
