USC missing some major contributors for bowl game

They should play in the academic probation bowl. Whatever happened to the thing with Reggie Bush getting paid? Now Mcknight is driving cars. Pete Carroll is more than a guy who runs up the score, he's a fucking cheater too. Get him out of college football.

Not to mention USC has starters ruled academically ineligible ever single year, unlike a lot of other schools.

And then there are guys like Vontez Burfect, who committed to USC but then decommitted for academic reasons and somehow started his freshman year at ASU.

plyers pride-school's money- coaches reputation- looking good for scouts etc.

Of course they are going to compete. Are they going to compete like no other in the Deez Nuts bowl after playing in the Rose Bowl for the past 7 years? Probably not.

Do you think Oregon State played their hardest being a win away from the Rose Bowl and ending up in the Las Vegas Bowl?

I agree with you when you say they are athletes, competing is what they do. But the reason we all are forcasting a let down is because they really don't have motivation to win this game, for one because they are playing in a shitty bowl after 7 years of the Rose Bowl, and for two because winning a glorified exhibition really won't change anything, they still finish 5th in the Pac-10.

Does this apply to all teams? Maybe, but it definately applies to some, USC especially given what kind of bowl games they usually play in.

Your acting like all that coaches do leading up to bowl games is prepare 24/7 for the other team... they prepare obviously but not to that extent. A lot of them are on the road recruiting, but for the most part (This is from experience at UNC since I got invited to attend bowl practices last year) they treat bowl practices as a head-start on spring ball and work hard with the younger kids.

not only that but i guarantee you USC thinks they can just stroll on in and walk right over BC.

add that to a lack of motivation and care for the bowl game itself and you have a recipe for an upset.

we see it time and time again. better teams lose all the time when they don't want it as bad. happens in every sport, every year, all the time. don't know why some of you are having such a hard time understanding these things.

BC has a tough defense, and from what I've seen Barkeley isn't having the strongest year and he seems very inconsistent. BC also likes to run the ball...a lot. Dave Shinskie is awful so you will hear Montel Harris early and often.

As to follow along with your theme Tailback, the vibe i've been getting from interviews and whatnot is that BC really wants to get out there and take down SC. This is huge for the program and for the players, which will certainly work against your favor if all the players are just shrugging this game off like you said.

I think BC wins it.

Big programs playing in flea-bag bowls are always primed for the upset. Especially schools like USC where top players are already thinking about draft status (IE, don't get hurt, don't make stupid mistakes).

This is even more prominent when a school had a legit shot at a NC, at the least the Rose Bowl and they have to miss x-mas to go play Boston College in a bowl game that is more known for their commercials than anything else. Win or lose, the 2009 USC season was already a major disapointment, nobody will remember if they win or lose this bowl game.

Compared to BC who gets a shot to make their whole season with this win.

Is it possible USC comes out and rolls BC? Sure, maybe the underclassman took some leadership once the seniors shut it down. BC could also come out and flat-out choke. But this is the type of matchup that just oozes upset.

yeah it was funny how they didn't start talking about how USC loves to practice and Pete Carroll is such a great motivator until USC went up by a couple of scores.

Nice to see SC win, but I don't think they were particularly motivated for that one. Great coach and motivator or not, Carroll could only do so much there. The Trojans got themselves in a situation they didn't want to be in and where there wasn't a lot of upside for them. Half-assed or not, nice to see them win.
