Im still pretty bad at hitting with analog, which is why id prefer button hitting and analog everything else. I read that if the pitch is up and to the left you have to press up and to the left when swinging to make good contact. Is that not true?

I would be in the same boat as you here for control choice.

I don't believe pitching can be mastered like it can be with the meter system. The PS3 sticks are too loose to be that precise IMO, where as with the meter system you can hit your spots pretty much every time.

I don't believe that is true frmo what Russell had said. You need to have the right timing, and either push it more to the left or right depending on where the pitch is. The pitch being low or high is irrelevant to an analog batter and the game calculates that itself based upon player rating.

Its all timing based. I was mashing once I got the timing down, and that was against the cpu who is harder to hit than the humans imo (at least for me, I'm always worse vs the cpu in all af these games). I find that the direction doesn't even matter all that much, and all of this concerns me.

BUT I personally believe (from the demo anyway) that you had better plate coverage up/down using zone hitting by moving your left stick up/down. Again, that was in the demo.

I really, really like the fact that you can increase the size of the PCI (Plate Coverage Indicator) by pressing the "circle" button pre-pitch. I got into some long counts after two strikes by using the "circle" button. That was fun. On the other hand pressing the "square" for power really dimishes the size of the PCI. I can't say I made any contact using it.

Hopefully later today I will give some comments of this new version!

I'm trying to get used to analog everything and I guess it isn't so bad. I've been using whatever the default "expert" settings are. I think it's all-star difficulty? I find pitching pretty fun with analog. Analog fielding seems pointless. It's no better or worse than button fielding. Analog hitting is still my least favorite aspect. Oddly enough, I seem EARLY on just about every pitch. If I ever wait back on a pitch I can usually make some solid contact. I guess pitch speed on all-star is too slow for my taste.

So what's the deal with online settings? You can just pick and choose whatever you want and so can you opponent? Someone can use zone hitting while the other uses analog? Or does it default to the settings of the person challenging?

So who wants to play a game!? Longo and Manny are waiting...

Online settings are completely customizable to whatever you want. I'm thinking analog pitching and button/fielding hitting for myself, but don't know yet. I just did a Play Now game [thrilling game, btw]...Lag wasn't a problem. I was using all classic button settings though.

I jumped online. Won my first game but the controls were the old button controls. I assume we can change it to our liking but lag wasn't an issue in the game I played. Looking forward to this if online play is clean.

How does the interface work for choosing your controls?

Can you see what the opponent is using?

You choose them in the online settings menu before even getting into a game mode. I was not able to tell what settings my opponent was using. Not sure if I just missed it or what.

not only can we customize difficulty, but we can adjust sliders to our liking. so if one thing sticks out, we can adjust it.

i went full analog.

happy with it overall. fielding was a pain in the dick, really easy to get "yellow" and cause the 1B to not be able to make a play. happens too easily IMO.

Based on the one game I did play, I was satisfied with how analog hitting worked in the online environment.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but this game is like the deadball era. Everyone ikn the lobbies has a sub .200 AVG, even guys with good records.

Analog, buttons, doesn't matter. There is no balance, nobody can hit.

"Friends List" vs "Buddy List

I saw my "Friends List," but I couldn't find where to start a "Buddy List" for the game. I'm sure I am just missing it.

I didn't get near as much time in as I had hoped. But I did get in one game online with a friend of mine from Cincinnati. Played Reds @ ChiSox.

Since I had just popped game in I had no idea how to set up my online settings I was still playing non-analog in this game. No, I could NOT tell what my opponent was set up with.

I really liked that I did NOT see his pitching meter or analog meter. My buddy commented he didn't even notice it was gone. But he did say that "now that you mention it," he used to read the meter to tell if a FB was coming (full meter). I could only count TWO hiccups during the whole game. But then again I really didn't have many problems in last year's version. My PS3 is HARDWIRED to my router.

I set the game up (if I remember correctly) at: Veteran Hitting, All-Star Pitching, All-Star Fielding. Final was 2-0 ChiSox as Konerko hit a 2-Run jack off Bronson Arroyo in the 5th or 6th. Mark Buerhle got the "W" for the Southsiders.

Game looks great.

I spent a little time toying with the HR Derby. I like the improvements to the camera angle that will follow your JACK on some of the replays. SWEET! I do have the PS MOVE and it adds to the fun especially if you have some guests. Nice touch.

I also like the NEW addition to the BATTING PRACTICE mode. It is definitely worth checking out. Instead of just climbing in the cage and taking some hacks, the game gives you some things to work on and you can earn points if "successful." Good stuff here.

Hopefully more stuff tonight.
