Why is it that people like you ignore the actual qualifications of a Heisman winner? It isn't JUST the "best player", because many of the "best players" have lost the award because of their off-field actions.

What has Newton done THIS YEAR that he has gotten in trouble for THIS YEAR to not win the award? If you don't want to give him the award because of what he has done in his past, then that's up to you but that is not how it should be voted on.

And how many of the best players have lost their award because of off-field actions? You are making it out like a majority of the "best players" didn't receive the award.

It's not a majority, because the majority of "best players" aren't criminal thugs like Newton.

I would still vote for him, but I don't need the NCAA to rule on this matter to conclude that Cam Newton is a scumbag.

Let's review:

- Buys stolen laptop at Florida
- Gets caught cheating and plagiarizing 3 different times
- Facing expulsion, he transfers citing "playing time" even though he's promised to be the starter a year from now anyway (the same time frame it took him to land at AU)
- His father pimped him out, and embezzled the money through his church.
- His father's church is miraculously rescued from bankruptcy, around the same time Newton changes his college decision at the 11th hour, signing with the dirtiest program in the NCAA, and we're led to believe he knew nothing of the pay-for-play stuff.
- Gives really arrogant, out of touch answers for interview questions, such as:

" I hated Junior College but it was a business trip."
" I called coach Mullen and told him that I'll be taking my talents to Auburn, Alabama."

(Still amazed by the second quote, just because of how similar it is to the famous words that got LeBron raked over the coals this summer for being a self-important dickhead.)

Newton can have his fucking Heisman, but he'll never have my respect. He's a spoiled and entitled cock-sucker who has had his messes cleaned up for him since high school. (And Westlake HS produces absolutely terrible people, trust me on this, they were in our region and I played against them in baseball and football. Just the worst fucking kids.)

He's a great player and all, give him the fucking trophy for all I care, but let's not pretend that these are the first (or last) allegations to surface on this kid.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. Where there's a shit ton of smoke, there's a shit ton of fire.

Just to add onto this, here's a paraphrased version of things he's said publicly:

If it was up to me, I would still be at Florida
I wanted to go to Mississippi St., but my dad chose Auburn
My heart told me Auburn was the right choice for me
I didn't know my daddy was pimping me out like a 2 dollar whore

Chances are at least one of these has to be a lie.

Isn't the award being based on what has been accomplished this year? So why should an arrest from 2 years ago hurt what he has done this season? Again, if you wouldn't vote for him based on his arrests in the past then that is your decision but IMO that isn't how the voting is suppose to go.

Then how many is "many." Is many 2 to 3 or 10+. Clearly your definition of many differs from mine.

edit: I am not saying he isn't a scumbag, what I am arguing is that nothing has been proven THIS YEAR of him doing anything illegal. This year is the only year that should matter when it comes to voting.

I see what you're saying, but his arrogance also displays a lack of integrity. You can tell by watching him that he feels he is above the law and entitled.

And I'll admit I was exaggerating when I said many, but that's a common exaggeration.
