[ALL] Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Activision FPS)

Activision has announced that a first-person shooter based on The Walking Dead is in development, coming to us via the fine folks at Terminal Reality.

A separate project from Telltale Games' episodic adventure, the FPS tells the tale of Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle (wait, the racist guys!?) as they make their way to Atlanta. Players will have the option of tackling zombies head-on, or using stealth to avoid their undead nastiness.

It's not all sneaking and shooting, however. Management of supplies is crucial as players face a scarcity of food and ammunition. A number of other characters will be encountered too, though their motivations will vary and tough decisions will have to be made.

The game's planned for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and is scheduled for 2013.

I think L4D is pretty overrated actually. The campaigns are way short and the difficulty is a fucking joke. The graphics are also meh.

Terminal Reality? They made the Bloodrayne games on PS2 which I think were maybe decent? They also made Ghostbusters which was ok. And they made Kinect Star Wars which is fucking abysmal.

I think Dead Island could be characterized as a zombie killing FPS... Maybe even House of the Dead too. And a shoot em' up game doesn't really jive with the premise of the graphics novel/TV show where they try to avoid using guns as possible.

I'd much rather see a World War Z or 27 Days Later adaptation than this one.

I wouldn't call Dead Island is an FPS at all. Most of the time you're using melee weapons. I'd call it Action/RPG if anything.

I guess you're right on that front but I still just feel like this genre has been done to death, whether it be a FPS or not. And like I said before this genre of game doesn't really jive with the storyline of the series. A Dead Island style game would actually jive a lot better with the narrative of The Walking Dead.

I think the big problem here is the game is using Daryl and Merele. Now they are stuck using a predetermined destination and you know sure as shit this game is going to be super short. They need to use different characters in the same universe like TellTalles version.

Well I disagree and I think it is an amazing game....more L4D1 than 2. Plus the PC Community has modded the shit out that game and there are still alot of people playing it and streaming it on twitch.

Dead Island is the only other one.....

The PC gaming community fawns over difficult games which is one of the reasons why there was a large clamoring to get Dark Souls ported to PC.

I've recounted it before but I played with Tigstah and a few others from here on L4D2 on the mall map. We played it 20+ times easily on NORMAL and couldn't beat it. That's just fucking stupid. Even more recently I played with Brnt and a few others and it took us well over 40 times to beat one of the DLC maps on EASY. And that was with one fucking person surviving. The difficulty is so unbalanced in those games it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

The games are fun but no where near as great as people hype them to be. The first one pisses me off the most because it felt like half a game to me. It took like three hours to play through all the maps and they charged full price. Then they put out L4D2 a year later which seemed like it should've been the game they released all along. It was a much more full featured game.

But they're Valve so they always get a fucking pass.

I dunno, it always felt weird playing L4D2 on anything but a PC....maybe the difficulty wasnt ever adjusted for the console crowd, as Twigg said..playing that game on easy on a console is no fucking joke

And of Course Valve gets a Pass, most of the time theyre Awesome

Im tired of these action/adventure Zombie games. What happened to survival horror? That said I really liked Dead Island, still need to beat it. Theres just so much to do on that shit.
