You got a NO team thats red hot, weapons all around, die hard fans, even Jimmie Johnson called them "America's team", a team that just 5 years ago was without a stadium, heck you could even say without a city. Perennial NFL losers their whole existence, finally stepping up to the big dance against no other than God himself, Peyton Manning. America likes sobby stories like this and thats exactly what NO brings. Besides, Brees vs Manning = Win, both teams started 13-0, most people had them in the Super bowl anyway.

Hell, even polls on various websites favored a NO/Colts Super bowl to anything else.

So the Saints beat a team who turned the ball over five times, a team that had penalties go against them, a team that stupidly cost themselves with things like 12 men in the huddle, and it only took them until OT to axhieve this?

Good luck against the Colts who had 1 penalty for 5 yards and 1 turnover vs. the #1 defense.

I'm just glad I don't have to hear ESPN mention Brett Favre's name ever 2.5 seconds now that the Vikings are out. Its a shame though because I really like Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson.

Just gonna say, those five turnovers weren't a fluke -- the Saints have forced turnovers all season, and it was no different yesterday.

Sure, it took OT to beat the Vikings. But the Saints also blew Arizona out by 31, blew New England out by 21, beat the Jets by 14, beat Philly by 26 and won 13 games in a row earlier this season.

It'll be a lot closer than people think.

Colts' D has been strong vs. the run this postseason, they were already very good vs. the pass. Until week 13 (rest/momentum week) they were 2nd in scoring defense. The Saints beating the Vikings was their most recent performance and they looked terrible offensively in the 2nd half, while the Colts looked unstoppable in their 2nd half.

Those 5 turnovers weren't all flukes, but everyone knows that was a horrible Brett Favre error in a game-winning position as well as throwing over the middle into an area where 3 defenders are off his back foot. Are you going to credit the Saints D with Favre and AP fucking up that handoff too?

I never said the Saints forced every turnover. The handoff was an obvious Viking screwup, and Favre's pick was a terrible decision that Tracy Porter made him pay for. The other turnovers were an interception that was great pressure/coverage and two strips by a Saints defense that is conditioned every day to strip the ball every play.

I'm going into the Super Bowl giving the Colts a slight edge. The 3 1/2 line seems about right. It'll be high scoring, just because the Colts offense is so good. The defense isn't bad either, but Sean Payton has coached the best offense in the league for the past four years, and I've got a lot of faith in him considering he's got two weeks to game plan.

This isn't an offense led by Joe Flacco or Mark Sanchez. Facing Drew Brees is a little different from facing those guys.

I wouldn't argue with any of the points in that article. The officiating was horrendous. On the Bush TD, I told my wife that it looked like the ball was slipping out of his hands on the replay they showed on the big screen at the dome. Of course, they only played it once unlike the other major plays or TD's that played 4-5 times in a row....

This game reminded me so much of last season's Monday night game between the Saints-Vikings, but just the other way around. In that game, the Saints outgained the Vikings by more than 100 yards and held AD to 32 yards on 21 carries ... got two punt return touchdown from Bush, but had a couple of questionable calls go against them, missed a FG, had a FG blocked and returned for a score and turned it over four times to lose 30-27.

Obviously the stakes were much higher this past weekend, but the games were very similar, just going in the other team's favor.
