uhmmmmm, because the call on the field was an INCOMPLETE PASS. It was reviewed upstairs as to whether it was complete. In the review, it was actually noted that it was not an incomplete pass, but an interception due to the scenario I stated in the previous post. According to NFL rules the interception on a reviewed incomplete pass counts, but any return does not. Intercepting team gets teh ball at the spot of the interception. Why that is, I don't understand, and truly is the only question there should be with this scenario.

Regardless, the call was 100% correct.

You are wrong f16. He caught the ball in the field of play, not the endzone. In the field of play you establish possesion and complete a football move, in this case it was him rolling over. He was down by contact, the ground cant cause a fumble, or in this case, or cause the ball to be jared loose once you establish possesion. Once he hit the ground the play was dead.

As for as the absurd interception rule, if anything it should have been ruled a fumble because by ruling it an interception they are saying he never maintained possession at any time which is ridiculous in it self, would you not agree?

Watch the play a million times and you tell me that wasnt a catch (with full possession so that interception shit it out the window) and he wasnt down by contact. 1:25 of the video. Clearly a catch and tackle. Its so clear and evident at 1:52. What else do you have to do to catch a ball? He is on his back after being tackled, rolls over then the ball comes out.

All true, but you are forgetting one key aspect. Play was NOT blown dead and completed by a whistle. That's when the catch is complete. Blame the refs for not blowing the whistle quick enough....but the way it went down (no quick whistle) it was still an INT.

Freeman was ok again. He had a great splash play with his touchdown pass to Stovall. However, he had 2 fumbled snaps, and was stripped twice. I watched each play and broke down each passing play where a pass was actually attempted. This does not include plays were Freeman tucked and run or was sacked, etc.

Shotgun: 13/20

Under Center: 4/8

2 WR's: 7/12

3+WR's: 10/16

***Note that the 2 wide and 3+ wide sets were tracked based off of the alarming differences in numbers last week against Green Bay. Basically, I charted if only 2 WIDE RECEIVERS were on the field. This included when the team utilized a running back or tight end in the passing game. Same applies for the 3+ sets.***

So Freeman didn't perform poorly, but, still isn't so great when under center. Olson can not rely on shotgun to move the offense. Freeman has to get more work under center. Especially if this is going to be a "run first," "smashmouth" team. You need to utilize play-action more too.

A lot of QB's perform better from the shotgun. In the New England/Indy game, both QB's came out in shotgun on their first plays.

It's not like Freeman was a QB from the spread who needs to get acclimated to playing under center.

Your play action game would probably be better if Ward didn't get outrushed by Freeman and Cadillac had a better game/more carries.

You trying to defend the play is ridiculous. You got the W now at least concede that the call was complete bullshit.

I don't know why he's so ineffective under center. Like I said, he didn't come from the spread and operated under center just fine in college. He's a rookie who came out as a Junior. He's going to make a lot of mistakes. It's those moments of brilliance that you mention that should give you hope that he can develop into a good NFL QB.

Yea, and that referee is full of shit. "basically right when he went to the ground:, The ball hardly popped out "Right when he went to the ground" The ball came out once he rolled over and was getting up. I dont care what bullshit excuse they come up with or what rules they try to justify that botched call. My eyes doesnt deceive me. The catch in the playoffs against a Redskins a few years ago was ruled correct, this one wasnt. That was a case of the ball popping out as he went to the ground.

To gain possession of a loose ball that has been caught, intercepted or recovered, a player must have complete control of the ball and have both feet completely on the ground inbounds or any other part of his body, other than his hands, on the ground inbounds. If the player loses the ball while simultaneously touching both feet or any other part of his body to the ground or if there is any doubt that the acts were simultaneous, there is no possession. This rule applies to the field of play and in the end zone."

The ball did not simultaneously come out. Refs fucked us, period.

NFL Agrees With Officials on Buccaneers' Disputed Call

Mike Pereira the NFL's vice president of officiating, has informed the Bucs he agrees with the instant replay reversal that resulted in an interception by the Dolphins' Jason Taylor Sunday.
On Monday, Pereira reviewed the controversial play that took place near the end of the first half of Sunday's 25-23 loss in Miami.
Bucs receiver Michael Clayton appeared to make an 11-yard catch at the Tampa Bay 15 with 1:43 remaining in the half. After Clayton's body hit the ground, the ball squirted out and into the hands of Taylor.

Referee Tony Corrente huddled with his crew and ruled the pass incomplete. But the play was reviewed and Corrente ruled that Clayton didn't maintain possession after he hit the ground. Taylor was awarded an interception.
Morris received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for arguing the call, setting up the Dolphins at the Bucs' 8-yard line. Two plays later, Kory Sperry's 5-yard touchdown catch gave Miami a 16-6 lead.
