Week 11: (4-5) Miami Dolphins at (4-5) Carolina Panthers

I am a fan of White and think we will see a bit more of him if Brown doesn't play.

First, what's the "you guys" stuff? Not every Dolphin fan lauded the Pat White pick, in fact, most DID NOT like it. Me included. I don't give a shit Belichick was thinking about taking him, Parcells/Ireland reached big time.

The Wildcat hasn't lost most of its luster lately, that's just the media's BS. They haven't run it as much lately, just the base offense. That's why the media is somehow pulling it out of there ass that it isn't as effective lately. Williams and Brown ran for over 180 yards yesterday, most of Ronnie's coming from the Wildcat. Just because we didn't blow up this year at New England when we played people think it has lost its effectiveness. Now, with Brown being out, it definitely is going to get shelved though.

"you guys" doesn't necessarily mean you specifically, moreso referring to Dolphins fans (and even non-Fin fans) that liked the White pick.

I know that the Fins were only averaging about 9 or 10 Wildcat plays before the Tampa Bay game (don't know how many they ran yesterday), so I know that its use was exaggerated by the media, but Ronnie Brown averaged 3, 2.5, and 3.2 yards per carry against the Saints, Jets, and Patriots.

He was averaging nearly 5 yards a carry before those 3 games, so the wildcat - and the Fins running game in general - has lost a lot its luster. But the decline in those numbers can also be attributed to the skills of those defenses as the Fins did run all over the Bucs yesterday (but who hasn't?).

Not true. Ronnie has had more carries in every single game except for yesterday's and that is only because he got hurt.

Brown runs the wildcat the most of the time and is typically the inside runner. Williams' YPC is only higher than Brown's this season (5.3 to 4.4) because he gets the sweeps, tosses, and pitches to the outside after teams start collapsing toward the middle to stuff Brown.

I haven't seen every Fins game this season but I've seen about 4 and I actually can't recall Williams breaking any big runs out of any traditional run formations. Most of his highlight runs have come from wildcat misdirection sweeps, tosses, or option pitches. And from what I've seen Brown is typically the in-between the tackle runner that sets those plays up for Ricky, which is why his YPC is lower than Sticky Icky Ricky's.

Obviously, you've seen much more of the Fins than I have this season so I can only base this on the 4 games that I have seen. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you've watched them more but in the 4 games that I've seen this was typically the case.

Edit - Correction - Ricky's 68 yard TD against the Saints was a toss out of a traditional strong set.

Obviously I hope the Dolphins win, but I'm more hoping that the Jets and Pats tie, since that would help the Dolphins playoff hopes more than either team winning.

I think he'll most likely re-sign with Miami.

But would you really want Miami to sign him to a big contract extension and risk going through all over this again?

Why not just use that money to get a big time WR/HB through FA or the draft and avoid all of the risk with Ronnie.

Taking the Panthers now obviously with Brown out.

Tough season for Miami. They played Indy as well as anyone has all season minus New England.

No I wouldn't. I love the guy and he's easily my favorite player but with his injury history it's not a smart idea to give him a ton of money, which I'm sure he'll be seeking.

Running backs are a dime a dozen. Although I think Ronnie Brown is rare breed.

We'll wait and see what happens.

Ronnie has been a solid back, compared to what we needed at the time (No RB once again like with Marino, because Ricky was AWOL).

HOWEVER...

Most Miami fans won't agree with me in saying that HE HAS NOT lived up to his billing and draft status.

Gotta be Carolina here with Ronnie out. As long as Jake doesn't decide to throw 6 picks today we should be good to go. Winner of this game goes to 5-5. As bad as Carolina started to have the ability to reach .500 is amazing. Lets go Panthers!

Why does Carolina insist on passing so much??

Everytime they get the run game going, then they completely stall trying to force the pass.

Just keep grinding it out on the ground, some teams make it way more difficult then it has to be.
