SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego police say they're investigating a claim that Chargers defensive back Antonio Cromartie (FSY) hit someone in the head with a champagne bottle at a bar after the team clinched first place in the AFC West.
Detective Gary Hassen says officers answered a report of a fight at Bar West in Pacific Beach shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Hassen says a witness claimed Cromartie threw a champagne bottle but the Pro Bowl back says it slipped from his hand.
A man suffered a cut to the back of his head but nobody was hospitalized or arrested.
Hassen says Cromartie is under investigation for assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred hours after the Chargers beat the Denver Broncos 32-3.
A call to the Chargers seeking comment wasn't immediately returned.
